Structural Engineer - Rail

Job description / Role

The Structural Engineer will work under the guidance of the Structural Engineer (Senior) and will be responsible for the design review of various types of Railway structures, ensuring that design are in compliance with the latest Codes, standards, national requirements and procedures.

- Planning, design and design reviews, reporting of projects, method statements.
- Structures Design: Responsible for carrying out the design of various structures. Structures could be simple or complex structures.
- Highway geometric and structural design including all related roads/highways facilities.
- Design and design reviews and technical reporting
- Preparation of projects tender documents including front end documents, particular specifications, and BOQs
- Liaison, coordination and follow up with clients, agencies, sub-consultants & Prequalification and evaluation of contractors.
- Design Management: Traffic management during construction and construction phasing
- Quantity take off, cost estimate, preparation of tender documents and particular specifications.
- Coordination with the Client and all concerned authorities.
- Solid knowledge of local and international standards such as (AASHTO).
- Ensure continuous technical improvement of the design team.
- Liaise with different disciplines within the design team.
- Ability to lead and manage design group
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field
- Masters Degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Professional Engineer registration preferred
- Minimum 15 years experience, GCC experience is preferred.
