Parsons Brinckerhoff is providing program management consultant (PMC) services to Ashghal for what is expected to be more than 200 local road and drainage infrastructure projects to be implemented throughout the country over a period of five to seven years. Five general engineering consultants (GECs) have been selected to design, tender and supervise construction of the projects under Parsons Brinckerhoffs supervision
Due to an increase in workload we are looking for a Structural Engineer (StructE) to support the Programme Design Manager Drainage (PDM-D) in Qatar. The StructE will assist the PDM-D to perform the design review function, with a primary focus on overseeing and managing the General Engineering Consultants (GEC) delivery of the design of Drainage and Highway structures on behalf of PWA to ensure Programme objectives of quality, cost and schedule are achieved.
Requirements
An ideal candidate must have atleast 16 years of postgraduate experience with expertise in the design standards and specifications for structures and buildings associated with Drainage and Highways projects, together with the modelling analysis programs for these structures to perform design, constructability and value engineering reviews and other related activities necessary for successful programme delivery.
Preferably Chartered Engineer, or Professional Engineer with experience in the detailed design of structures used in drainage and highways projects:
Drainage: Including associated building structures, culverts, gantry cranes, pipe bedding calculations, thrust restraint systems and calculations.
Highways: Including highway bridges, footbridges (R.C, steel), underpasses, sign and signal gantries and foundations. Lighting columns and bases.
Standards: Need to be familiar with British Standards in general but with the older standards that predate the Eurocodes in particular. For Drainage need to be familiar with the water retaining code BS 8007 which is still a key document. For Highways need to be familiar with the UK Highways Agency Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, and bridge design guide BS 5400.
A general awareness of the main AASHTO guides would also be an advantage
