Job description / Role
CDM Smith has been selected as the construction supervision consultant for a major highway project, which consists of widening existing highway with bridges, interchanges, intersections and associated works.
We are currently searching for a Structural Inspector who has experience on complex highway construction projects to work for CDM Smith on this project.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Civil / Structural Engineer on all issues related to his area
- Ensures that Contractor's works are being carried out according to plans, standards, and specifications prior to approving work
- Provides necessary assistance to construction supervision team with respect to material inspection.
- Performs civil quality assurance inspections and prepares daily reports.
- Reports includes but not limited to; maintenance problems, calculates dimensions and component specifications and discusses project requirements with superiors
- Provides assistance to the Resident Engineer/Assistant Resident Engineers and takes part in weekly meetings or as required
- Monitors QA/QC activities, maintains Inspector's Logs & Records, contractor's work activities, construction progress and inspection milestones and ensure that responses are complete in compliance with the contract documents
- Inspects construction site to Inspection Requests and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications, construction and safety standards
- Adopts, monitors and implements Safety and Environmental issues within the project site
Requirements
- Bachelor degree or a relevant technical qualification (diploma) is essential
- Minimum eight (8) years relevant experience in structural inspection
- Knowledgeable in various International Standard and Codes is required
- Ability to perform variety of inspection functions accurately and timely
- Ability to understand and interpret design specifications, construction plans, contract documents and complex technical documents, maps and drawings
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Experience on international projects and prior experience in the Middle East preferred.
