Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsible for the function engaged in providing students with support and counseling services using a matrix management system in coordinating the delivery of Student Services program and services. Oversee the daily operation of the unit.

PRIMARY TASKS:

Provides leadership and organization in support of student support services.

Provide a supportive environment for ACK students and for all the administrative elements of the students experience including:
- Assisting students in any non-academic concerns and queries.
- Assisting students and alumni in developing their desired career paths.
- Facilitating the collaboration between departments.

Serve as student advisor, advocate and college liaison to answer questions, and resolve problems and issues across academic and non-academic departments on behalf of students.

Plan, direct, and control the activities of the department to ensure maximum productivity is achieved within the Colleges standard level of performance.

Supervise, train, motivate and appraise performance of the staff and satisfy individual training and development needs.

Implement and supervise operational standards, coordinate and maintain standard operating procedures.

Act as catalyst for change and improvement.

Identify and champion opportunities to improve efficiency.

Supports the training and development of staff to meet the required standards and continuously find ways to improve the quality of work.

Improves team efficiency and department effectiveness.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling, management or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years experience in working with students and people of diverse backgrounds.
- Strong leadership skills with excellent communication, influencing and engaging skills.
- Highly developed organizational and time management skills.

Initially offering two-year diploma courses, ACK now has PUC approval to offer degree programs as well. A 2+2 course is available whereby students obtain their diploma in two years and can then continue, if they wish, to study for a further two years to obtain their degree. This arrangement is unique in Kuwait.
