The RoleThe Role• Reporting to the OHSE Supervisor, the Student Wellness Professional shall be a part of a multidisciplinary team and be responsible for planning, developing and implementing a comprehensive health and wellness information, education and counselling program for the student and staff communities of Qatar Foundation, targeting the promotion of healthy behaviours and achievement of Physical Wellness, Emotional Wellness, Intellectual Wellness, Occupational Wellness and Socio-cultural Wellness and as an information resource to the various groups. KEY RESULT AREAS • Conducting appropriate research for the requirements for the health programs utilizing both on-campus and off-campus resources inclusive of survey data bases, feedbacks, and hazards identification risk analyses epidemiological evaluations and meeting minutes. • Develop, design and execute health and wellness events and programs that involve and interest the maximum, from both the student and staff communities resulting in good levels of participation and response. • Planning, developing and implementing active health education programs for health promotion in the QF Communities, incorporating variety of learning techniques and formats ranging from large scale awareness events to smaller group discussions, work-shops, lectures, roll-plays, skits etc. • Anchoring the development and design of passive health education programs, deploying a variety of modalities including newsletters bulletin boards, brochures, pamphlets, web pages etc. • Conceptualizing, planning and organizing a good variety of health and wellness events like, Health-Fairs, Health and wellness days/ weeks, Balanced Diet, Healthy Eating and Weight Management, Heat Stress, Heat Effects and Sun Safety, Care and Protection of your Back, Positive Health for Women, Breast Cancer Awareness, Personality and Lifestyle Modification, Holistic Hygiene, World AIDS Day, etc., liaising and coordinating both externally and internally with agencies like fitness and recreational facilities and student-life officials to develop workable activity schedules. • Collecting, analyzing and monitoring on an on-going basis the data relevant to the community health status, health and wellness needs as well as the participation data with respect to various health and wellness programs. • Counselling the student, faculty and staff communities with regard to a variety of health aspects and issues to ensure the maintenance and promotion of their health aspects and issues to ensure the maintenance and promotion of their health and disease prevention amongst them. • Organizing and maintaining an array of health information resources and education materials as well as an organized health education library with an up-to-date inventory. • Providing individual consultations and appropriate referrals for the students and staff in need with respect to health, wellness, fitness and social issues. • Identifying and assessing the needs followed by preparing professional presentations on various health and wellness topics and delivering them to the relevant target audiences. • Contributing to suitable proposals for incorporation into the organizational policies and procedures on the wellness aspects. • Developing and distributing program assessment tools, evaluating the assessment data and providing feedback and informative reports to the management. |
RequirementsRequirements• Should have a Bachelor's degree in Health Education/ Social Work/ Public Health/ Counselling or a similar related field. • 2 years of professional experience in a role related to health coaching, wellness programming, counselling health education etc. • Demonstrated skills to develop, implement and assess health promotion efforts related to wellness. • Knowledge of social and macro influences on health behaviour, with ability to identify high risk health behaviours in student and staff communities. • Good knowledge of current and traditional theories of student and community health promotion, student learning, environment change, behaviour change and evaluation. • Demonstrated skills, to train, guide, counsel and mentor the students and employees from the health and wellness perspectives. • Strong interest in preventive health, demonstrated skills in gathering, compiling and synthesizing information for application in the production of health education materials. • Demonstrated skills to develop and utilize an array of education methods like group discussions, role-plays, skits etc. • Demonstrated skills to make presentation to large group of students, staff and professionals. • Skills to write edit and select material for health promotion, patient education ranging from pamphlets, brochures, web-page text to posters, journal articles, news letters etc. • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills to interact effectively with both the students and staff. • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within a culturally diverse environment. • Skills to motivate and stimulate people into effective, corrective action with respect to life-style habits. • Ability to handle a variety of tasks, using good time management skills. • Ability to work over some evenings and over the week-ends. • Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (including word, excel, power point, MS outlook etc.) and ability to hunt the required professional information through internet. |
