Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Main Purposes of the Job:
• To coordinate the study and professional skills components of programs delivered in a Higher Education institution.
• To design, develop, evaluate and teach into study and professional skills environments in order to facilitate adult learners being successful at their studies and careers.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates the study and professional skills components of programs.
• Manages the study and professional skills components of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programs.
• Collaborates with Academic and Academic Support staff involved in the running and teaching of the programs.
• Maintains the official records of students pertaining to their progression through the study and professional skills components of their studies.
• Coordinates the relationship between Stenden University Qatar (SUQ) and Stenden University Netherlands (SUN) in regards to the study and professional skills components.
• Leads the development of the study and professional skills components that whilst aligned with SUN, achieve efficiencies through the development of a common core that is culturally adapted to SUQ students.

Teaches study and professional skills.
• Works with students in groups, as well as in an individual consultation setting.
• Maintains an awareness of on-campus and off-campus resources that students can access to develop their study and professional skill sets.
• Reflects upon teaching experiences, and those of other teaching team members, in order to improve practice across SUQ.

Designs and develops study and professional skills components.
• Ensures that the components are designed to prepare contemporary learners who develop lifelong skills that are applicable throughout their careers.
• Works with staff to ensure that technology-enhanced learning and teaching approaches are integrated into curricula.
• Conducts regular environmental scanning of the literature and industry practice to ensure the components are current and evidence-based.

Conducts research into the design, development and delivery of study and professional skills components in higher education settings.
• Consistent with being a reflective practitioner, the successful candidate conducts applied research in order to improve practice at SUQ, SUN and further afield.
• Promotes SUQ, and develops networks, through disseminating research findings through conference presentations and journal articles.

Other duties and responsibilities at the discretion of Management.

Requirements

Education & Training

Essential:
• Masters in Education or a related field

Desirable:
• PhD, or a candidate, in Education or a related field

Experience and Achievement

Essential:
• A minimum of five years experience in teaching adult learners
• Experience in coordinating teams, be they teaching or business focused, in order to deliver improved service to students/clients.
• Evidence of applying reflection to previous experiences in order to improve future practice.

Desirable:
• A minimum of two years experience in a career development field

Skills, Abilities and Personal Qualities

Essential:
• Mastery of the English language
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Focused on facilitating student achievement
• Practiced in working, including teaching, in a multi-cultural environment
• Experienced in working in a team environment
• Excellent time management skills
• A confident user of computers for the creation of documents, including the tracking through spreadsheets of progress, and using the Internet for learning and research purposes

Desirable:
• Experience in conducting applied research leading to improvements in teaching and learning
• Experience in presenting to peers at seminars and conferences
• Practiced in communicating with peers located in different countries
