Sugar Commodity Research Director

Job description / Role

Our client a leading commodity organization is seeking to recruit high-profile professional to head their sugar research and risk management function. The job-holder should provide insightful market reading of this strategic commodity (sugar) and make the necessary recommendations accordingly (using Commodity Research and Risk Management) with an objective of maximizing the company margins by hedging raw and white sugar.

Reporting to Vice President CRRM, the incumbent needs to:
- Continuously monitor the market dynamics and price movement of raw and white sugar, then make recommendations for raw sugar buying; hedging of white premium; rolling the sugar pipeline at favorable spreads..
- Continuously conduct technical analysis, fundamental analysis, suppliers views, supply & demand variables and forecasting modeling.
- Implement statistical & technical models (ARIMA and Neural Network models) for forecasting prices to support the generation of buying signals
- Communicate the findings with business units to get required approvals for any action.
- Implement measures to check the models & system performance
- To master hedging tools for Agriculture Commodities including futures, board and OTC options.
- Must have knowledge on commodity CASH BASIS and elements affecting their price behavior.
- To apply currency hedging tools and freight hedging tools, also to be fully aware of Macro & Micro Economics impact on business.
- To adhere to the Risk Policies for Sugar and suggest modifications as needed.
- To recommend on buying and this should be based on in-depth commodity research of both raw & white sugar.
- To manage the risk by using proper hedging tools

Requirements

The ideal candidate should be strong trader with ability to assess opportunities as well as risks and read the market correctly. In addition, should possess hands-on experience in conducting fundamental & technical analysis as well as hedging tools. In-depth knowledge in sugar market including, futures, options, physicals, freight and contracts.

The incumbent should have at least ten years of work experience in commodities CRRM and Trading. Excellent verbal & written communication skill is a must. The incumbent should possess a university degree in science with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
