Superintendent - Project Engineering

Job description / Role

This position will support capital projects at the S-Chem facility in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The Infrastructure Project Team (IPT) at S-Chem manages projects up to $50MM using Chevron Development and Execution Process (CPDEP). The majority of these projects are in the $1MM to $15MM range. The yearly capital budget is approximately $50MM to $80MM over the next five years.

This position will lead, mentor, and provide guidance to 8-12 project engineers. This position reports to the IPT Engineering Manager. The successful Project Engineering Superintendent may also directly manage special projects.

Key Responsibilities of this role include:
- Plans, prioritizes, coordinates and aligns the work group activities to ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
- Mentors Project Engineers and guide them through the CPDEP process.
- Assists Project Engineers with evaluating requested projects, selecting preferred alternatives, and defining project deliverables.
- Provides oversight on preparation and control of project scope of work, specifications, justification, economics, schedules and other applicable CPDEP deliverables ensuring standards and codes are followed.
- Assists Project Engineers with contract management for outside contractors.
- Ensures Execution Project Deliverables are completed in accordance with the project plans.
- Ensures Project Engineers execute required activities for project financial tracking, reporting, and forecasting.
- Assists with setting priorities of project execution schedule for design contractor and construction contractor.
- Assist with developing and revising Project Engineering procedures, processes, and tools.
- Manages special projects as assigned.

Requirements

- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 12 years chemical plant or refinery experience is required.
- Minimum of 8 years leading projects in chemical, petrochemical plants or refineries is required.
- Experience with gated project management processes is required.
- Commitment to safety along with strong leadership and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplined teams is required.
- Previous experience with supervisory of professionals is highly desirable.
- Previous experience mentoring engineers is highly desirable.
- Self-starter with above average presentation, planning, communications, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.
- Experience managing multiple assignments, people and projects in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of industry design codes and practices.
- This position requires good written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects in various stages of implementation.
- Experience in SAP, scheduling, project controls, and cost estimation is highly desirable.
- International experience is highly desirable.
