Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- managing effective learning within the prescribed classes and teaching groups defined by the school for the period of employment;
- ensuring resources of the school are used responsibly and effectively in order to provide positive and efficient learning opportunities for all students in your care, irrespective of their background and starting point;
- plan, assess and report progress and achievement of student groups at an appropriate level;
- play a full part on the duties and responsibilities of a teaching role within the organization whist in their employ;
- set a good role model and ensure that students make good progress in their academic and personal development and show respect for each other and the diversity of the culture and heritage around them.

Reporting to: The Principal

Responsibilities of the Role:
- Plan, prepare and evaluate lessons and learning activities provided in line with curriculum plans and expectations set by the school;
- Provide a safe, secure and stimulating teaching environment in which consideration is given to the individual development of all students
- Differentiate learning and teaching and associated resources in a manner that challenges and interests students and is appropriate to the needs and skill-levels of students
- Take responsibility for learning and teaching and associated resources in a manner consistent with school policies and procedures, including advice and recommendations offered from the Learning Support Team
- Apply, where appropriate, IT capability to enhance learning and teaching in the classroom
- Utilise positive and supportive behaviour management strategies that are conducive to effective learning and teaching;
- Follow policies and expectations as appropriate to the teaching role undertaken with regard to assessment, marking and reporting student achievement;
- Monitor the work of class students, providing guidance, advice and support, fostering self-esteem
- Write and maintain relevant records for individual student files and writing reports if required and within a longer term commitment at the school;
- Follow policies with regard to the health and safety of students, including child protection and behaviour management both on and off the school premises when students are under the schools jurisdiction
- Take a pastoral interest in students in line with school policy and expectations;
- Be proactive in maintaining and developing personal IT capability
- Attend planning meetings designed to share information necessary for the smooth running of the school and the successful delivery of its aims;
- Supervise students during non-period time as determined by the Principal;
- Supervise and guide any Teaching Assistants working in the classroom;
- Behave at all times in a manner befitting a role model for the pupils of the school and in a manner that brings only respect to colleagues and the reputation of the school;
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to all school matters at all times.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure Barring Service and will be required to provide a local police check.

Strong references outlining good teaching quality and good subject knowledge.

Requirements

- Qualified teacher with a Bachelor Degree with a PGCE or B Ed
- Previous success experience of teaching in schools at the age range or specialism identified in the CV.
- Team working, flexibility, adaptability, creativity with sensitivity to the needs of children are critical to the requirement of this role.
- Strong interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity and awareness required to support the experience of living and working in the Middle East
