Job Description:

Sustainability Coordinator responsible, as Public Works Authority (PWA) representative, for the sustainability management functions for delivery of a QAR multi-billion portfolio of education, medical, marine and general building projects for Government clients. A key function is management of the PWA interface with the Programme Management Consultant (PMC).

Responsibilities:
•Establish plans for Sustainability Management and oversee implementation and compliance by the PMC.
•Work collaboratively with consultants and contractors to ensure portfolio delivery within Sustainability objectives. In particular, ensure that PWA required sustainability reviews and approvals are scheduled and actioned.
•Management of Sustainability risk across the portfolio, and preparation of regular reports and briefing papers on the status of the risk, mitigation actions and risk reduction initiatives.
•Preparation of the master audit schedule, audit implementation and management of follow-up for corrective actions.
•Measurement of PMC, consultants and contractors’ performance on sustainability aspects and incorporation into a feedback process to ensure continuous improvement to meet PWA needs.
•Identification and coordination of interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to ensure necessary support to enable delivery of the projects, with particular reference on the GSAS Authority.
•Monitor implementation of the PMC’s Sustainability management and administration processes.
•Prepare monthly Sustainability Status Report - content to include:

-Sustainability performance (statistical) summary
-Audit Status
-Summary of Sustainability meetings
-Urgent corrective actions

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university in Sustainability or Environmental Engineering or related discipline.
•Driver’s License
•Proficient in written and spoken English.

Desirable Requirement:
•Chartered status from a recognised institution.
•Experience of working in Qatar or the Gulf region.

Experience & Knowledge
•A minimum of 10 years’ experience in sustainability aspects of the design, construction or assessment of major new building programmes.
•Experience in the assessment of consultants’ and contractors’ sustainability management plans and auditing for compliance on major building projects.
•Have good knowledge and experience of international and environmental standards related to building projects.
•Have a working knowledge of Building Environmental Assessment methods (BREEAM, LEED, GSAS or equivalent).
