Systems Support Engineer

Job description / Role

The IT Systems Support Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of the ICT technology systems & infrastructure:
- Provide a secure and trusted IT environment across the Kingdom. Ensure accuracy and integrity of data, implement best practices, manage IT risk, and heighten security controls to preserve continuity of system operations, safeguard of IT data/assets and systems operating within acceptable parameters.
- Evaluating user needs and system functionality and ensuring that ICT facilities meet these needs and ensuring that the IT infrastructure at the stores is functioning smoothly at all times with a minimum down time.
- Implementation of proper Active Directory structure and complete migration of Windows 200x Server to Windows Servers 2008 Directory and Network Services.
- Conduct regular review of system/security/application logs, generated on all the servers, to ensure operational continuity by resolving high risk issues on priority.
- Perform problem management and incident management for the timely resolution of any system incident(s). Updating IT asset list on regular basis following physical validation.
- Ensure that the day-end process at Stores is completed with all data synchronized and posted to main application server; must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve data transmission issues.
- Perform Retail application rollout at Stores; assist team in Store openings and hand-holding support; independently support the Store Operations for Store Openings and Closing. Ability to troubleshoot and repair POS terminals across all Stores.
- Establish network for new Stores connected via Firewall, VPN and Router.
- Ensuring that application and operating servers are updated with latest software/hardware patches and are secured with latest anti-virus signatures update at all times. Performing effective planning for new/upgrade system/application roll-out across all Stores/HO.
- Ensuring that the data backup is conducted on daily basis and kept at offsite location for contingency purpose. Also primary & secondary Internet/Network connections are available across all Stores/HO. Ensuring system(s) availability/redundancy at all times for minimal operational disruption.
- Improve (automate, simplify new and existing) critical processes and workflows related to IT Support & Service model. Ensuring that the user administration tasks (i.e. user creation, etc.) are performed on timely basis following appropriate approvals.
- Ensuring that the physical/environmental controls available at the hosted site are reviewed on regular basis. Also conduct regular quality surveys (i.e. user feedback) on the IT support & services provided at all Stores & HO.
- Prepare user training documentation (e.g. SOPs) and planning regular training sessions with the relevant stake-holders on system functionalities.
- Developing IT Policy/Procedure, user manuals, and other documents related to IT infrastructure. Establish IT DR plan and recovery strategy HO/Site/Store.
- Performing cost-benefit analysis and/or comparative assessment for IT infrastructure related areas (e.g. server hardware, IT infrastructure, Internet services, server colocation service, POS, etc.).

Requirements

- A minimum of 5 - 7 year experience in a Corporate IT environment
- Experience working in a retail industry
- Proven experience in running multiple IT division
- Technical expertise coupled with an understanding of business requirements and management principles
- Experience in re-engineering an IT department, implmenting processes and procedures and ensure these match the business requirements
- Experienced in identify business requirements and developing efficient solutions
- A Bachelors Degree in IT or Computer Sciences or related field
- IT industry certification (ITIL, MCSE,CCNA,MS Exchange Server) is an advantage
- Point of sale hardware support experience (Toshiba, IBM, Epson)
- Retail Systems experience Retail PRO /MS Dynamics AX 2012 Retail
- Desktop Support skills with knowledge of latest operating systems
- Experience in LAN/WAN/VPN setup and Support
- Knowledge of telephony systems and configurations
