The Role


The Role


This is a great opportunity for a trained medical professional with an interest in systems and technology / IT work. With a collection of 5,000 publication at present and continued expansion over the next 10 years, this will be a great opportunity to grow with our library itself.

Key responsibilities include:

Administration of Library Systems
Coordinate electronic resources, including the review of licenses and keeping of records
Manage bibliographic data loads and database maintenance routines
Manage transfer of patron data from Customer Relations
Management (CRM) and other official DHCC affiliated organizations to library’s authentication database
Maintain library modules (cataloging, circulation, Web OPAC, reference, acquisitions, serials control, reporting, interlibrary loan)
Support other library applications, including but not limited to the Library Portal and Ariel Document delivery system
Create links and insure currency of e-access to library licensed resources in PubMed and other databases.
Help with troubleshooting Library hardware and software issues; serve as primary liaison to DHCC IT department.
Analyze system usage monthly and prepare statistical, management and annual reports.
Train staff on use of technology and systems

Requirements

Requirements:

A degree in Library Science or Information Technology
At least 3 years experience in managing and/or supporting computerized library information systems and technologies, including the digital library environment, the integration of on-line resources and the creative use of electronic resources for service delivery
Experience in working collaboratively with library staff and other campus units, especially Information Technology, to implement and support network-based digital projects and services
Experience in working with Innovative Interfaces Inc. Millennium integrated library systems is desirable
Proficiency with Windows, HTML, and the creation of databases is essential
Wide range of knowledge and experience with all aspects of library services (cataloging, circulation, Web-based OPAC, acquisitions, serials control, e-access, Interlibrary Loan and associated document delivery systems.
For purposes of system integration, knowledge of online database searching (OVID, PubMed, Web of Science etc) is essential.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills in English required.
Arabic language skills preferred
