TIA / Stroke Specialist Nurse

Hamad General Hospital in Doha is looking to appoint:
- TIA/Stroke/Neuro Specialty Nurses
- TIA/Stroke Nurse Practitioners
- TIA/Stroke (Advanced) Clinical Nurse Specialists
- TIA/Stroke Consultant Nurses
- TIA/Stroke Senior Specialty Nurses

The Stroke/TIA Specialty Nurse will join with the existing TIA/Stroke Team and be part of an integral Acute Stroke Service working with the multidisciplinary existing team to develop stroke services across the whole pathway from awareness raising to lifelong follow up and patient education. Key areas will be developing a TIA rapid access one stop clinic, 24hr nursing response team for thrombolysis and supporting the development of Staff education across the hospital and across the stroke service.This service is part of the Neuroscience Institute under the leadership of Professor Asfaq Shuaib.

The TIA/Stroke Specialist Nurse will act as an expert clinical nurse and demonstrates advanced nursing practice and knowledge in:
- Emergency care of the acute Stroke patient: assess patients with acute stroke for thrombolytic care and coordinate with the team to work in an efficient and effective manner when under time constrains in stoke care.
- Prevention of complications and risk factors for a recurrent stroke.
- Educating patients and families on disease process, risk factor modification and disease management.
- Act as a consultant and clinical expert nurse in the development of care pathways and order sets to standardize care and ensure standards are met. Act as a Preceptor to bedside nurses.

Experience & Education Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree + postgraduate diploma in relevant nursing specialty OR
- Bachelor degree + Master degree in nursing
- 5 years of experience in Acute Stroke Care
- Advanced experience in thrombolysis
- Ability to develop services working independently
- Knowledgeable of the measuring tools used across stroke continuum
- Able to assess patients, identifying risk levels in TIA patients
- Previous experience of participation in Stroke research.
- Previous experience in teaching stroke subjects.
