Tooling and Process Engineer

Job description / Role

- Oversees the rebuilding process of the tooling dies in metal forming
- Lead the tooling and metal forming department as well as direct our suppliers in the design and manufacture of metal forming tooling.
- Responsible for rebuilding, maintaining the tooling dies for all the metal forming equipment.
- Participate in the product design & development process through appropriate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input to meeting customers needs and cost reduction projects.
- Participate and work with tooling suppliers to develop new metal process tooling and product specifications.
- Manage projects with formal plans, employing distinct milestones, metrics, and timeliness while leading cross-functional teams.
- Develop and maintain plant processing data and equipment specifications including preventative and predictive maintenance requirements to achieve OEE targets.
- Utilize Six Sigma and lean manufacturing in the development of tooling and processes for metal part manufacture.

Requirements

- Engineering degree with Minimum Five (5) year experience in the metal forming industry.
- Extensive knowledge of tooling design and process for metal forming, including stamping and drawing process.
- Strong material and metallurgical knowledge of metals, especially aluminum and steel.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements to control tooling consumption.
- Attention to detail and highly organized
- Experience in can and/or end making and packaging equipment is a definite asset
