Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

We are currently looking for a high potential and dynamic tax specialist to join our team in Dubai and manage tax compliance aspects of Gemalto's operations in the Middle East.

Person will also be in charge of ensuring compliance with local export and import regulations in general and regulations related to Dual- Use goods in particular for Middle East and Africa.

Main Responsibilities will include:

Tax:
* Working with the Finance team in the region to oversee all tax compliances, including GST/VAT & Customs compliance in relation to the operations in the Middle East
* Advising on Tax matters for this region, including in proposals/bids to potential customers
* Working with HQ Tax, Finance, Treasury and Legal teams etc to open/close legal entities, to reorganize existing entities or to re-arrange the corporate structure or the funding structure of entities
* Working diligently to manage tax risks arising from operations in the Middle East countries, especially looking out for the risk of unwanted Permanent Establishments
* Computing/reviewing quarterly tax provisions and reporting on tax compliances, tax risks, open years, audits etc

Trade Compliance:
* Implementation and control of import-export regulations relative to Gemalto products, solutions and services.
* Advising on Customs and Trade Compliance matters, including in proposals/bids to potential customers
* Implement and maintain close relationships with customs authorities to be up-to-date in terms of regulations and to have the appropriate contacts to solve and fix customs issues that may occur.
* Perform regular audits to ensure local trade compliance, make audit reports available to the organization, report trade violations to management.

Requirements

Best candidate would be a bright and driven individual with at least 6 to 7 years experience with an advisory firm and/or working as an in-house tax advisor.

- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent
- Masters is preferred.
- 6-7 year experience as tax advisor or tax specialist in an advisory firm or related.
- Good technical knowledge in the areas local and international taxation, GST/VAT , customs law and subjects like Tax treaties , Transfer pricing.
- Expertise in the field of local and international import/export regulations, Customs laws and Export Control Regulations is a major benefit.
- Excellent Command in English
- Arabic is preferred.
- French is a PLUS
