Employment: Full Time

One of the UAE’s most respected automotive businesses is looking to recruit a number of Team Leaders into their service departments.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a successful, profitable and experienced management team – leading service advisors and technicians along the way.
To be considered ideally you will be from a premium background and speak Arabic.
Operations Management

• Tests drives the car along with the customer to identify and gauge the problem
• Prepares the team for the upcoming job and allocates job cards to them to align the jobs to the skills set and efficiency level and maximize through put in timely manner. Once this is done, explains the job in conjunction with the Foreman and communicates any relevant information gathered during the test drive to ensure vehicle diagnosis is carried out on a firm footing
• Reviews pre-order forms (Parts proforma) to confirm parts requirements are well matched with the issue on hand and guaranteed to fix the problem. Once this is done, ensures Service Advisor authorises the forms and liaises with the Parts Supervisor to order the parts
• Ensures customer approval is obtained for any additional work required, and accordingly re- distributes the work. This includes notifying Service Advisors of any cost increases
• Checks warranty period of the car, whether it is modified or undergone an accident to assess warranty claim acceptance prior to recommending ‘warranty’ jobs. Once this is done, obtains approval from Line Manager and Service Manager
• Assesses cars for faults and analyses parts replacement versus parts repair to ensure acceptance of warranty claims
• Monitors warranty jobs to ensure the team follows the set warranty guidelines. This includes reviewing job cards and other documentation to justify warranty claims and facilitate smooth processing
• Test drives ready cars to conduct a final quality check
• Reviews workshop figures, such as hours old, hours worked versus idle hours to monitor progress of operational targets. This includes preparing reports for management discussions
• Checks the car testing equipment every two days to update technical software if required
• Attends weekly meetings with Line Manager to discuss teams’ performance and upcoming events
• Prepare and manage overtime and weekend work schedules of the team to ensure smooth and equal distribution of work

Training and Development

• Identifies and organises training (health and safety and/or soft skills) to improve the teams’ technical knowledge and performance
• Conducts on the job training as needed and provides technical advice to develop skills and resolve difficult issues
• Conducts team meetings on a day-to-day basis to advise the work schedule, provide feedback on performance and updates on new technical information
• Actively contributes to the achievement of the Group’s Emiratization targets by ensuring that targets under own areas of responsibility are achieved and to contribute to the training, development and retention of UAE Nationals

Operating Environment

The job holder operates within an extremely busy workshop on a day to day basis. Apart from carrying out a pre delivery inspection for 60 cars in 2 days, the job holders must plan for approximately 14-15 cars per day for repair and service work. In this context the challenges posed are:

1. Difficult to plan work schedules as it is only after the car is diagnosed, the extent of work required is realised
2. Due to this, technicians must work speedily, however not compromise on quality and following work processes
3. Government car owners request cost effective repair (this may reduce team incentives)
4. Risk of road test driving and limited availability of safety equipment

The job holder is required to be an experienced driver to overcome road risks. He/she must have the ability to plan and organise, manage pressure well and be agile and alert through the 8 hour day to redistribute work and monitor efficiencies and quality. He/she must build strong relationships with his team and positively reinforce them to maximise their potential during challenging times. Forward planning is carried out for warranty cases and emergency cases.

Decision Making

• The job holder will be working under minimal supervision to facilitate smooth functioning of service and repair processes. He/she will assign work schedules as deemed fit, make recommendations for
• Parts replacement as needed. The job holder will deal with work related issues within the set authority matrix.

Requirements

To be considered for this role you must:

• Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical / Automotive or related field
• Certified Automotive Technician
• Sound technical knowledge in vehicle diagnosis and repair
• Knowledge of technical software
• Ability to think analytically
• Planning and organising
• Written and verbal communication in English (other regionally spoken languages including Arabic would be an added advantage)
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel
• Minimum 5 years hands on experience in workshop repair and operations in a reputed automotive dealership, out of which 2 years are in a supervisory capacity
