The RoleThe RolePosition Summary: Provides technical assistance in the installation, diagnosis, and repair of all types of small and large heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration units. Work independently on most occasions, or with minimum supervision at all other times. Provides assistance to the operation and maintenance groups. Is responsible for diagnosis and repair of large heating, ventilating, and a/c (HVAC) and refrigeration systems found the campus as well as the community. May perform trouble-shooting installation, disassembly, repair and reassembly, resting or equipment modification, in the shop or field. Will work on process refrigeration systems up to 4500 HP and a/c systems as large as 5000 tons, with the latest digital electronic controls. Utilizes multi-craft (instrument, electrical and machimist) skills in the repair of complex HVAC and Refrigeration equipment. Major Duties and Responsibilities # Provides work direction to lower classified technicians as required. # Locates equipment or system failures and operating irregularities by making the necessary diagnostic tests, measurements, and analyses. Determines nature of repairs or madifications to be made and replacement parts required. # Locates specification sheets, manufacturer’s technical data, reads necessary blueprints, Instrument Loo[ Diagrams, and electrical diagrams required to complete repairs or installations. # Performs required maintenance on assigned equipment, runs operating tests to ensure satisfactory operation of repaired or newly installed replacement equipment. # Performs required maintenance on assigned equipment, runs operating tests to ensure satisfactory operation of repaired or newly installed replacement equipment. # Performs high-skilled diagnosis of HVAC and Refrigeration systems as required. # Prepares new or altered installations on all types of large HVAC and Refrigeration systems including ammonia and Freon compressors, plant instrument air dryers, control room HVAC’s. # Recommends new installations or modifications to improve existing facilities and standardization within broad fields of endeavour. # Prepares justifications and completes expenditure requests as required. Other Responsibilities # With foremen or senior specialists to receive work assignments and to relay job status, with other maintenance HVAC/Refrigeration craftsmen and specialists for job coordination. With maintenance or design engineers to discuss installation or repair procedures. # With operations foremen and supervising operators to arrange for installation or repair and acceptance of completed work. # Occasional contact with vendor representatives to discuss systems installation / repair techniques. Supervision # Supervises major T & I and coordinates future projects. |
RequirementsRequirementsCompetencies # Effective Communication Skills. # Ability to read blueprints, piping and instrument diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, and electrical circuit control diagrams. # Ability to use all kinds of test equipment used in HVAC / Refrigeration diagnosis and repairs. # Must have experience in design HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system and equipment maintenance. # Familiarity with work permit and lockout procedures. Possession of a valid Saudi driver’s license. Qualifications # Diploma in HVAC Design Technology or Equivalent OR # Completion of a formal program in the HVAC / Refrigeration field # 8 years of experience in industrial HVAC and Refrigeration.
