Role Profile
The role of the Technical Consultant is to provide the critical skills necessary to implement, integrate, upgrade, administer, support and extend product applications. Technical Consultants take ownership of one or more areas of delivery within proof of concepts, analysis and design phases, refreshes, implementations and upgrades, and provide leadership and mentoring to junior resources. Technical Consultants participate in client workshops and calls and have a good knowledge of the technologies and tools associated with configuring and deploying the product.

The specific responsibilities that relate to this role include but are not limited to:
Provide knowledge of the functionality of one or more core Product Modules.
Participate in the technical workshops during the analysis and design stages of project
Own technical delivery of aspects of the solution.
Create the project environments mirroring the hardware and software stack to be used on client site.
Configure technical aspects of the product.
Configure the Application to meet client requirement.
Trouble-shoot environmental & technical issues that arise in the course of deploying/configuring software.
Deploy application releases onto the project environment and on client site when required.
Identify improvements to our software, processes or supporting documentation.
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills towards clients and internal project team.
Demonstrate flexibility and ability to take the initiative on issues.
Effective and Efficient decision making ability prioritizing, time management, etc.

What you will be doing
During the POC or Pilot Phase Where applicable:
Takes ownership of activities required to prepare for and deliver results to workshops with client fraud team, investigators and data team
Has a basic understanding of Analytics involved in the product and the impact of technical decisions upon the model.
Has a good understanding of data and fraud detection
Has specific domain knowledge on at least one product proposition
Works with the client to gain a deep understanding of the clients data
Takes responsibility for the source control process on projects

During the Analysis and Scoping/Design phase:
Is able to leverage experience in implementations, POCs or Pilots in the analysis and design phase.
Actively participate in client workshops and represent the organisation with both client business representatives and technical team.
Take responsibility for preparation of material as input to or output of client workshops.
Take responsibility for quality and timeliness of specific client deliverables
Support project activities in defining aspects of the solution against requirements
Produces design documentation for both internal and client-facing audiences

During the Implementation phase:
Provides assistance to other team members in key skills
Assures overall Quality for all of their own output and raises any observed issues on delivery
Uses appropriate levels of testing and ensures task and defects are tracked
Actively supports the internal quality assurance cycles to ensure a high quality deliverable
Meets deadlines with high quality output
Demonstrates a good understanding of functionality and interfaces
Takes responsibility for the source control process on projects
Ensures build processes are being adhered to and make recommendations for changes to the Solutions Architect if warranted.
Writes unit test cases

During the Client Assessment Phase Where applicable:
Reviews technical issues raised by the client and resolves if appropriate.
Trouble-shoots environmental & technical issues that arise in the course of deploying/configuring.
Ensures and maintains source control in line with releases provided to client
Ensures integrity & quality of client releases.
Hands over the project to the customer support team upon project close out.
Has the ability to assist the client in install issues around not only the application solutions but also database, application server and or operating system issues.
Focuses overall testing on not only meeting client expectations but also within performance SLAs.

Requirements

Typical Knowledge, Skills and Technology Requirements
Typical 4 years experience or equivalent in a technical role such as programming, technical/IT support or software.
Capable of leading the technical workshops during the initiation and definition stages of project.
Supports the Applied Intelligence project team by documenting data management requirements captured during client meetings.
Defines the data management infrastructure during A&D phase of the project, directing the client organization during interface design and data mapping.
Defines migration strategy for upgrade.
Able to analyze issues and define high level solutions and provide technical strategy recommendations for clients.
Understanding of performance considerations in application solutions, and have the ability to provide relevant options and remediate issues.
Implements improvements to our software, processes or supporting documentation
Has a good understanding of data architecture.
Good Understanding of Java and J2EE architectures and/or Data Server.
Conduct code reviews and technical quality evaluations.
Ensure project team activities follow the required software development lifecycle.
Works with engineering and product on issues related to the core or industry directions.
Performance tunes the application before delivery to client and during the clients performance testing phase of project.
Provides accurate estimates to the project manager.
Identifies, tracks and mitigates technical risks.
Reports regularly and accurately on progress and remaining work.
Challenges constructively to achieve improvement .

Has competence in two or more of the following areas:
XML and real time messaging queues and systems.
SQL and in-depth experience of databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server or Teradata and performance tuning at a database level.
Application servers such as Websphere, Weblogic, Apache Tomcat, JBoss.
Operating systems such as Unix, Solaris, AIX, Linux, HPUX, Windows.
