Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

We currently seek a professional to take on a leadership position as the Technical Director Environmental Planning and Management. The successful applicant will be exposed to the full breadth of our Middle East business, helping to deliver the same high standard of comprehensive and integrated infrastructure design and supervision services that have seen WSP become the UAEs leading interdisciplinary practice of designers and engineers.

The role will be to provide senior level technical support and mentorship to both the environmental planning and EHS teams. The ideal candidate will have significant experience undertaking environmental impact assessments for major infrastructure development in an international setting, and should have experience of EIA in the Middle East region. Core skills will be a combination of the following:
EIA
SEA
ESIA
Wastes Management
Hazardous Wastes management
Construction Environmental Management
Environmental Monitoring
Environmental Pollution Control
Management Systems.

Although you will not be required to line manage staff, you should have significant experience of recruitment, line management, mentorship and training, and be able to offer advice and support to the existing Heads of Teams in this regard.
The role will require the project directorship and management of environmental planning and management projects across the region, including technical direction, commercial management, resource planning and quality management.
The role will also require helping to research and develop new service lines in the environmental planning and management sector and spear-head their growth.

Requirements

You will be expected to have built a considerable network of clients and other contacts in the region, be fully integrated into professional circles and have a significant role in the expansion and growth of the environmental planning and EHS business.

Essential Qualities & Skills required:
BEng / BSc degree or equivalent with minimum 15 years post graduate experience
MSc. or PhD qualified
Membership to a well-known/ established professional institution
Excellent written and spoken English
Project experience in environmental impact assessment of major infrastructure, especially in the transportation and power sectors
Experienced user of Microsoft Office
Experience of associated software preferred although not essential.

Oil and gas experience

Environmental policy development.
