Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Review Project Specifications, Drawings and Bill of Quantity to identify all Engineering requirements for the Project.
Compiles and monitors tracking schedules for all Engineering requirements.
Planning and management of the Technical Department's activities.
Ensuring that all shop drawing work is completed to the highest standard.
Ensuring that working processes (planning, development, documentation, etc.) are efficient & adhered to schedule.
Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the Technical Department performances .
Ensuring suitable communication/updates are being provided by the Technical Team to internal and external clients on Project status.
Implementing Quality Management System in the Project.
To ensure implementation of Quality Policy and objectives in the Project.
Implementing the identified corrective and preventive actions.
Obtain NOCs for work where required, in conjunction with PROs/Liaison Officers at Head Office/Sites.
To provide technical input to Planning Department/Project Manager/Contracts Manager in finalizing/preparing contract programme.
Initiate Material Requisitions for all permanent required for execution of the Project.
Evaluate the technical submissions from suppliers from all the major materials required for the Project and prepare material submittals for suppliers selected by UCC for submission to Engineer/Client.
Review the method statements prepared by Site Agent/Project Manager for adequacy and submits them to Engineer/Client for approval.
Prepare and submit work notifications to Engineer/Client for all new activities on a Project.
Review contract drawings and prepare a list of shop drawings for accuracy/compliance to contract requirements prior to submission for approval.
Provide details to draftsmen for shop drawings and review the shop drawings for accuracy/compliance to contract requirements prior to submission for approval.
Review all Subcontractor technical submittals prior to submission for Engineer/Client approval, except M&E items, which shall be forwarded to M&E Coordination Manager/ Engineer.
Ensuring that all sites comply with safety procedures and guidelines set forth in Companys Health and Safety Manual.
Review and approval of overtime sheets for all Projects prior to Contracts Managers approval.
Prepare Monthly Projects Reports for submission to Senior Management and Engineer/Client.
Monitor the procurement schedule and coordinate with Purchase Department and Stores on delivery of long-lead, critical and bulk materials.
Monitor site progress and provide technical support to Contracts/Project Manager and Project Team.
Conduct inspection of permanent materials received on Projects QA/QC Engineer is not assigned.

Be able to recognize potential problems and action them before they become critical. Ensure timely submission of all information to Costing Department to meet Reporting Timetable, particularly on labor, plant and machinery.

Requirements

BSc in Civil Engineering or a related field as minimum
Master Degree is desirable
10 years min. of experience in construction industry with min. 5 years in the GCC
Knowledge of Qatar construction market
Expertise with MS Office applications.
Excellent communication skills
Excellent writing skills
