Technical Manager

The focus of the role is to provide technical leadership for teams carrying out feasibility works, detailed design, and project implementation.

- Provide a consultative approach to clients to ensure the best solution is offered to meet their needs
- Day to day line management of teams of engineers and technicians
- Having a good technical knowledge of the water & wastewater discipline and be able to positively advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts civil engineering issues
- Knowledgeable in the environmental aspects/impacts of civil/M/E design
- Responsible for managing external stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction and pursuing and promoting opportunities with potential and established client.
- Developing, maintaining and monitoring programmes for scheduling and reporting on deliverables across specific projects
- Maximizing profitability of projects, monitoring against budget, reacting and anticipating potential problems and communicating in line with client expectations
- Demonstrating technical expertise, providing in depth knowledge and leadership whilst proactively coaching and developing more junior team members
- Advising on suitable specialist software relevant to projects and implementing feedback from colleagues on systems
- Managing time so that balance is achieved between team support, technical work and business development
- To assist in liaising with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors and utilities
- The design of engineering works related to water / wastewater infrastructure works
- The preparation of specifications and minimum functional specifications for the engineering aspects of water/wastewater projects
- To carry out the design review of EPC contractors & submissions relating to water/wastewater infrastructure works based on a sound knowledge of the project requirements
- To assist with project administration
- To act as senior project manager and carry out bid preparation, planning, budgeting, the control of internal resources and sub-contractors
- To undertake overseas travel as required

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 20 years post graduate experience in the detailed engineering design of water/wastewater infrastructure development projects essential
- Demonstrated experience in preparing specifications and contract documents for water & wastewater infrastructure works including pipelines, sewers and reinforced concrete etc
- Knowledge about standards for water / wastewater systems
- Experience in the preparation of feasibility study reports, concept and detailed of water / wastewater systems especially master planning and capital investment planning
- Preferably, have minimum 5 years' experience in the Gulf region
