The Role


The Role


Basic Function and Scope :

A Technical Author with experience in onshore projects especially LNG Plant, Gas Treatment Plant, ship loading applications and Port activities.
Competent to research, plan, prepare, and produce, comprehensive Operations related written documents. These documents will include:

Plant Operating Manuals and procedures.
Operations procedures and Standing instructions.
Shutdown and new Projects procedures.
General Operations and Equipment topics.
Operations documentation related drawings, forms and checklists to complement all documents.

Tasks and Duties :
Develop all Plant Operations required documentation in accordance with established company Policies & Procedures, Gas/oil industry and International standards and to meet ISO 9000 requirements.& 14000

Produce concise and accurate technical and safety related documents.

Review and revise supplied Plant Operations documentation.

Prepare operating procedures from data extracted from Operating Manuals.

Ensure that all Plant Operations Staff are briefed on all related operations procedures (newly issued and revised), including Safety, Engineering and Maintenance related job procedures and Standing Instructions. Same approach applies to Projects documentation including the changes on existing facilities.

Participate in the identification of operating areas requiring change or alteration of a technical nature to meet varying operating conditions to determine impact on Plant documentation and develop solutions, and required training of concerned personnel.

Act as the Documentation and Computer Focal Point for the Sections within the Department to ensure all Data Files are backed-up regularly.

Prepare activity progress reports. Issue plans to provide timely production and delivery of prepared work documents.


Work closely with the Engineering Group Documents and Standards Section in the preparation and maintenance of standardised documentation layout.

Develop policies, procedures for application to all Operations activities, from onshore and offshore production to customer interface. Present draft documentation for management approval, leading up to Material printing and distribution.

Responsible for the support of Company policies and programs, and carrying out specific duties and responsibilities related to his job as spelled out in Management system documentation, policies, procedures, local documentation, Management System Manual, Safety Manual and other related documents.

Work Contacts :
Internal contacts with all levels of management and staff on a regular basis to develop documentation. Outside contacts include but are not limited to offshore contacts, contractors, and other associated companies within the Ras Laffan City Limits.

Operating Environment:

Plans, prepares and produces comprehensive Operations related written Documents for the Company.

Knowledge of LNG Plant, Shipping and loading activities is required.

Works is carried out within a well-structured environment, clear reporting relationships, and in accordance with established Policies and international standards.

Problem Solving & Job Complexity:

Problem solving is done within clearly defined Company Policies, though contributes to developing those.

Endeavoring to coordinate and standardize Policies and Procedures.

Position requires strong analytical, coordination and writing

Minimum Requirements :

Must be computer literate in the following: Word Processing, Desktop Publishing, Project Planning and Scheduling, Spreadsheets, Flowcharts, Graphics, Technical Drawing, Internet and other computer related utilities.

Degree Holder (BSc) in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
12 years' relevant process operation supervision experience in LNG production.
At least 3 years experience in Technical Authoring in the hydrocarbon/petrochemical industry.
Very good communication skills for training of personnel.
Very good written and spoken English and computer keyboard skills.
