Our client has an extensive business in the Transportation & Logistics sector with interests in various countries in the Middle East, Indian Ocean and Central Asia. They have an immediate requirement for an experienced Transport & Logistics Manager in Kurdistan.

The successful candidate will have a strong customer facing background and will be a “hands on” manager. The successful candidate will be required to establish, lead, manage and develop a Logistics business encompassing road, sea & air freight plus associated activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the roll out and development of new offices within the country
• Set the medium to long term strategy and implement business plans to achieve this
• Implement and ensure adherence to operational procedures in order to achieve operational excellence at all times - monitor and report on appropriate KPI’s
• Manage the operational budget and maintain overall cost control over all operations and resources, to include negotiation of freight contracts with vendors
• Regularly liaise with governmental & official bodies such as Customs Authorities
• Be the catalyst for growth by identifying and following through on business development opportunities
• Proactively monitor the market and competitors on a continuous basis and act upon this to grow the business and improve profitability.
• Recruitment and training of staff, responsible for establishing a strong team spirit and a performance based culture

• A strong and stable career within the Logistics and Transportation industry in Kurdistan with excellent knowledge of all aspects of the business
• Experience in setting up a new transport and/or freight operation will be an advantage
• Strong commercial and client relationship skills and ability to work under pressure
• Able to manage all financial & budgetary issues professionally
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent Kurdish and English
• Should be numerate and have excellent overall communication skills
• Strong IT skills, particularly with regards to MS office
• Valid Kurdish driving license is essential
