Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Our client is part of the Logistics Division of a major Middle East Group and a provider of transport and logistics solutions and services within the Arabian Gulf and throughout The Middle East.

In addition to general cargo haulage services they operate storage and consolidation services and they specialize in moving land based drilling rigs across sites and international boundaries. They routinely provide both contractual and ad-hoc support to the majority of upstream operators in Oman and well as most of the oilfield services companies.

They are seeking an Operations Manager to be based in Oman working in the interior on a local shift pattern. This is a contract role on a 2 year renewable contract.

Reporting into the Deputy General Manager, the role forms part of our clients third party division and you will work alongside another Operations Manager to provide operational support to 6 or 7 oil and gas clients.

The role is varied including managing sites and staff, visiting clients and office based work e.g reports, projects etc

In addition you will have sufficient intellect to produce and critique management reports and brief senior management on projects and improvements.

You will be expected to deliver improvements in terms of driver attendance, vehicle utilisation, fuel consumption and cost per vehicle etc. as well as making sure all operational procedures are followed.

Some knowledge of current HSE techniques would be helpful.

The work pattern is 2 weeks on, one week off with the week off normally taken in Muscat.

Work locations are likely to be Nimr and Haima in the interior.

Requirements

To meet this unique challenge, you will be an ambitious transport operations professional with some of your management experience ideally gained in the oil and gas sector.

With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.

Your work experience should ideally be supported by a qualification in a logistics, transport or operational doctrine.

Ideally you will have some experience of international transport operations, ideally gained in the GCC.

You should have a strong health and safety background.

A military background would be very useful.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate. An international driving license would be very useful.
