Job description / Role
An international Freight forwarder and logistics provider is currently looking to recruit for a Transportation Manager to lead, develop, and improve all operations, documentation and dispatch activities. Leading, developing and guiding all operations staff with in a given area to deliver or exceed expected quality service standards while adhering to the set operations policies and procedures to ensure that the company provides the best in the industry service standards at optimal operations costs. Reporting directly to Logistics Director, this job is based in Dubai.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, implement and improve policies and performance standards in operations to ensure that service quality levels match or exceed with customer expectations.
- Direct the activities of staff in relation to transportation operations including dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation vehicles
- Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities
- Monitor operations to ensure that staff complies with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules and government regulations
- Interact and communicate with the SDTs regularly to understand the service delivery priorities to ensure that service levels committed are delivered or exceeded by the company.
- Facilitate and support all the Continuous Quality (CQI) as well as process improvement initiatives in operations to ensure that customer service in enhanced and operations costs are minimised.
- Lead and facilitate all new product/facility initiatives in operations to ensure that all the new service activities succeed as per the business objectives in the company.
- Monitor and guide staff to ensure that all the company owned / operated equipment is operated and maintained properly to maximise the equipment productivity and minimise cost of operations.
- Plan and lead the budget process by providing inputs on equipment requirements, staffing needs and other operations costs in line with the business objectives to ensure that operations plan are aligned with overall business objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum a graduate in any discipline
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in freight forwarding industry, preferably in transport operations, out of which at least 2 years of exposure of operations management.
- Exposure to a freight forwarding operations software package with working knowledge of all MS office package.
- Strong planning and good communication skills. Must be aware of all transport legislation and procedures to ensure compliance.
