Transportation/ITS Engineer

Job description / Role

Transpo is seeking Transportation/Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Engineers of all levels to build up our Middle East team of highly qualified professionals with experience in transportation planning and modeling, highway design, traffic management and studies.

The duties may include:
• Support the client on a variety of Transportation related tasks and activities including supporting the development of Department of Transporation (DOT) staff;
• Manage traffic engineering and transportation planning work orders and assignments;
• Manage and prepare traffic impact and parking studies;
• Prepare signal timing plans using tools such as the Synchro traffic model;
• Modeling in SimTaffic, VISSIM, VISUM, EMME, Synchro, HCS and Sidra;
• Preparation of traffic signal configurations, their implementation including factory and site acceptance testing;
• Design traffic control signals, Active Traffic Management (ATM) systems, overheight vehicle detection systems, weigh-in-motion systems, lane control signals, speed enforcement cameras, red light enforcement cameras, ramp meters, and street lighting.
• Train and mentor staff from both Transpo and our clients;
• Attend client meetings and represent Transpo on project and work order assignments;
• Prepare proposals (method statements / scopes of work / budgets);
• Provide technical advice to our staff and clients including technical presentations and reports;
• Work in a team and collaborative environment with our staff and clients ;
• Prepare and review of tender and contract documents;
• Review proposals and technical submittal from various contractors and consultants;
• Support the intersection and corridor optimisation programme;
• Coordinate and collaborate on project work and proposals with other Transpo staff and offices based in the Middle East and/or the USA.
• Write and review ITS reports, traffic engineering reports, roadway design reports, safety studies and related technical documents.

Requirements

• Experience in designing traffic control signals, Active Traffic Management (ATM) systems, overheight vehicle detection systems, weigh-in-motion systems, lane control signals, speed enforcement cameras, red light enforcement cameras, ramp meters, and street lighting.
• Experience in writing and reviewing ITS reports, traffic engineering reports, roadway design reports, safety studies and related technical documents.
• Proficiency in using Autocad to produce detailed engineering drawings.
