Underground Utility Mapping Specialist

Job description / Role

Job Purpose:
Supervise underground utility mapping team activities; allocates work accordingly and ensures that survey reports and findings are accurate complete and meets high quality standards and project requirements.

Operational Tasks:
1. Plan, supervise, and direct underground utility survey and mapping operations.
2. Direct the transportation, setup, operation, and the maintenance of survey and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) equipment.
3. Prepare project progress reports, and conduct project briefings.
4. Plan and analyze the collection of GPR data.
5. Supervise the GPR data processing into the final products required.
6. Supervise positioning activities using conventional and GNSS survey systems.
7. Ensures the integrity and quality of acquired data.
8. Participate in implementation of companys QMS and OH&S programs related to his function.
9. Ensures that all equipment are calibrated and tested, sufficient spares, manuals and consumables held onboard and that the survey team is familiar with the equipment and prepared for the survey.

Peoples Management:
1. When applicable, ensures subordinates and superiors are well informed at all times.
2. Evaluates subordinates performance in a fair, transparent, and objective manner on a periodic basis.

Related Assignments:
1. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.

Requirements

Education/Experience Profile:
1. Bachelors degree in Surveying Engineering or Geophysics.
2. 5 years of experience in U/G utility mapping techniques using GPR or equivalent techniques.
3. 3 years of practical experience in GNSS and conventional surveying techniques.
4. Knowledge of reading and interpreting as-built construction and engineering plans
5. Knowledge of Quality Management System and Occupational Health and Safety standards and measures related to his functions.

Key Technical Skills:
1. Time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
2. Competent knowledge in English and Arabic, Spoken and Written.
3. Relevant computer proficiency, experience in using Microsoft Office tools
4. Extensive knowledge of GPR survey theory and applications.
5. Experience in the use of GPR, CADD, GIS, and project planning applications.
