Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsible for the management of Unix and storage systems. This includes the administration, management and patching of all UNIX family of systems in the Bank (IBM AIX, Linux & Sun Solaris). This includes configuration and maintenance management as required.

Main Tasks

• Manage, Patching and administration of all UNIX family of systems in the Bank (IBM AIX, Linux & Sun Solaris)

• Responsible for SAN Infrastructure management activities. Such as Director Zoning, Storage Allocation via SVC, Flash copy & Replication using TPC

• Responsible for configuration & administration of SFTP & TSM

• Responsible for the management and maintenance of IBM & Sun Solaris hardware (servers, storage & tape Library)

• Monitors system activity as requested by management .

• Responsible for liaising with the vendor to arrange replacement or faulty equipment as required.

• Provides technical support to the Systems Unix and Storage team lead.

• Perform the day- to-day running activities of the systems Unix and storage team.

• Manage work allocation, and problem resolution including driving and motivating personnel towards achievement of specific objectives and departmental goals.

• Ensure delivery of service levels to the bank.

• Monitors developments in technology to be able to make suggestions for improvements.

• Undertake similar or related tasks or duties as directed by senior management

Requirements

Experience

• At least 3-4 years in operations for a large banking or corporate organisation.

• Working knowledge and experience of banking operations: storage, unix systems and related problems.

• Knowledge of UNIX and storage.

• Ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.

• Written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Experience in incident management and resolution .

• Experience in managing software releases and configuration management.

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education Level

University degree in Computer Studies or the equivalent.

Professional Qualification

Certified IBM, Microsoft engineer
