Urban Planner

Job description / Role

• Carry out master planning of projects from basic structure to detailed deliverable(s) based on client program, applied regulations, and technical conditions.
• Carry out planning studies such as feasibility studies, site context appraisal, development brief, precedent analysis, master plan concepts and options, density program, land use schedule, demographic analysis, sustainability measures, circulation network, etc.
• Coordinate grading, transportation, landscape, architecture, utilities, environmental graphics, and other disciplines with the master plan design.
• Leads project presentations in all stages.
• Prepares master plan design deliverable(s) such as stage reports, executive summary, final master plan booklet, urban design guidelines, and urban elements specifications.
• Assists in preparation of planning services proposals, RFP for sub consultants, and evaluates bids.
• Manages communications with client, sub consultants, authorities, or third parties.
• Regularly reports to Principal and design team on project progress and critical stages.
• Coordinates with both engineering and planning staffs to resolve design issues
• Manages project related administration duties

Requirements

• Bachelors/ Masters Degree in Urban Planning/Urban Design
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as urban designer/urban planner with impressive portfolio of planning projects ranging from community/mixed-use complexes to urban or regional scale.
• Possess good presentation skills such as freehand / manual sketches or computer-aided methods.
• Broad understanding of urban design and planning standards, zoning and land use manuals, applicable codes and guidelines, international planning trends and urban studies, sustainability principles, and relevant references.
• Broad understanding of transportation systems, landscape design, site engineering and able to coordinate other technical studies into all levels of the master plan.
• Excellent computer skills in Ms. Office, Auto Cad, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS & 3D modeling
• Project management skills
• Multitask, and can achieve expected results under time pressure
• Team player, and possess excellent communication skills
