VP, Applications Development and Support

Job description / Role

The VP, Applications Development and Support will be the leader that will direct all efforts related to strategy, design and development of application solutions. Also responsible for maintaining, supporting, and upgrading existing systems and applications. The position will be responsible for guiding the execution of projects for the part of the IT portfolio. He will be responsible for engaging with and managing the relationship with the business across the enterprise to gain a strong understanding of the business needs.

Main duties:
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of the companys application portfolio, development tools, and development procedures.
- Manage the development and deployment of new applications, systems software, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
- Develop Information Technology (Application Development) strategy in support of the companys mission and core objectives.
- Continuously improve the Application Development and support processes
- Partner with IT senior colleagues to ensure reliable, efficient daily operating capabilities.
- Negotiate service level agreements with both internal and external customers and service providers and monitor service delivery to ensure the agreed targets and standards are met.
- Lead pre-testing phase of development by evaluating proposals in order to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations.
- Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.
- Review and analyse existing applications effectiveness and efficiency, and then develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems.
- Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage best practices.
- Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Coordinate feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase, and give advice based on findings.
- Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
- Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.
- Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
- Design, develop, and install application enhancements and upgrades.
- Coordinate feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase, and give advice based on findings.
- Liaise with companys software suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
- Direct, attend and participate in staff meetings and related activities; attend workshops to keep up to date with Information Technology issues.

Requirements

· Banking and cards business knowledge. Preferable to be in T24 and HPS systems.

· Systems integrations methods. Preferable to be in IBM service bus system.

· Development methodologies, techniques and technologies. Preferable Java, ESQL and oracle forms.

· QC & QA methodologies, techniques and automation.

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
