Vice President - Poultry Processing

Job description / Role

Achieving Operational Efficiency:
- Direct the poultry processing operations in meeting or exceeding production goals, including throughput, yield, productivity, cost, and quality.
- Manage the plant within established operational and capital budgets, ensuring financial goals and cost reduction plans are met or exceeded.
- Plan initiatives to maximize production order fulfillment on time by coordinating with farms for on time raw material supply and ensuring minimal downtime in the PPP plant.

Strategic Planning & Policy Formulation:
- Lead the capital planning, strategic planning, business plan and budgeting processes for the PPP.
- Contribute to strategy formulation and execution at the SBU level with specific focus on operational excellence at the PPP.
- Participate in SBUs strategy formulation and take actions in the Plant to execute the strategic goals of the company such as capacity enhancements, manpower rationalization, debottlenecking etc.

Managing Productivity and Yield:
- Audit and suggest process changes in the Poultry Processing Plant.
- Lead and oversee all the capacity expansion initiatives.
- Oversee all related hiring, employee relations, employee development, and production scheduling activities, ensuring an effective and productive workforce.
- Plan manpower and other resources in advance to minimize bottlenecks in the production system.
- Coordinate with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels.
- Break departmental BSC measures to team and individual measures and KPIs and monitor employee performance.

Steer Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques.
- Coordinate with external agencies in implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Managing the Plant and other Related Facilities:
- Devise plans to upgrade the plant and other supporting facilities and guide teams in executing the plans by allocating the necessary resources.
- Coordinate and manage relationships with external agencies involved in contracts related to capacity expansion and facilities up gradation initiatives (including employee accommodation etc.).

Quality, Hygiene & Safety
- Ensure that the production team adheres to the HACCP and ISO standards, including hygiene.
- Devise and approve quality management processes with Senior Manager Quality Control.
- Prepare and carry out a program to clean machinery.
- Implement sanitation and safety programs.

Reporting:
- Report as per agreed frequency on BSC (SMART) using relevant performance measures.
- Ensure all operational software and applications are used fully for the benefit of senior management.

Requirements

- Post Graduate / Graduate Degree in Engineering / Agricultural engineering/ Food related disciplines
- 12 years of experience in a processing plant, preferably in the food sector in K.S.A. or Middle Eastern Countries of which at least 5 years of experience in a managerial / senior managerial role.

Job specific Skills:
- Process engineering knowledge.
- Negotiation and managerial skills to manage a process operation that span over 500 people.
- Working knowledge of safety and environmental practices and regulations.

Generic Skills:
- Microsoft Office (MS-Excel, MS- PowerPoint, MS- Word and MS Outlook).
- Proficient in English and Arabic.
- Knowledge in Baan/ERP system (SAP is a plus).
