Job description / Role
Urbanise.com is a software company that provides Building Operators with a platform for managing the process delivering services to communities, estates and buildings and the people that occupy them.
The Visual Designer role will be responsible for the generation of visual assets in support of all aspects of the business ensuring consistent use of the company brand as well as consistent look and feel of all customer facing visuals.
The Visual Designer needs to be extremely versatile with the ability to create assets for use in anything ranging from Billboards, Van Wraps, T shirts, Brochures, Presentations, Technical Diagrams, Websites, Email Templates, etc. They must also have sufficient experience in the production of assets for those mediums such that they can either produce the output themselves (Presentations, PDF Brochures) or liaise with the companies that will produce the outputs (print ready artwork, web design assets).
The Visual Designer will work within a centralised operations team that will support Regional Sales Activities, Regional Project Mobilisation, Regional and Corporate Marketing and Internal/External Corporate Communications.
Key responsibilities:
- To design visual assets in response to a design brief, sometimes with limited instructions
- To internally produce files and outputs using these visual assets
- To liaise with external companies for the production of visual materials
- To ensure the companys brand and other look and feel is used within the guidelines set by the Marketing Manager
- To make sure everything the company projects towards a customer looks awesome
Other Tasks and Accountabilities:
- Maintain a structured repository of all visual assets, both source files and production files.
- Liaise with Corporate Communications and Marketing to ensure that visual assets can be easily
accessed when required
- Work closely in conjunction with internal teams and individuals who make requests for new or
modified visual assets and ensure that these requests are delivered in a timely manner
Your application must contain a web link to an online portfolio containing examples of your work in order to be considered.
Requirements
- University degree, or other relevant qualification, in Visual Design OR
- A minimum of 5 Years commercial experience in:
- Advertising Agency
- Web Design House
- Print Design House
- Similar Commercial Design House
- An electronic portfolio that clearly demonstrates a minimum of 5 years experience in:
- Photography
- Print Design
- Web Design
- Illustration (electronic/traditional)
- Typography
- Iconography
- Then Specifically
- Examples of Corporate Infographics
- Examples of Corporate Presentation production, including Powerpoint Diagrams and other corporate illustration techniques
- Examples of how to depict Software User Interfaces within the context of Corporate Presentations and Brochures
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal. Good interpersonal skills and effective time management skills.
Key skillset:
- Ability to conceptualise visual assets from a verbal or written brief using a broad range of tools ranging from Photography and Photoshop all the way through to Powerpoint and Prezi.
- Experience in the production of visual assets for Print Mediums
- Experience in the production of visual assets for Electronic Mediums
- Experience in Online content development (Web, Video, Prezi)
- Design flair, what looks good, what looks bad, what looks good in what mediums
- The ability to show restraint/respect in the use of corporate branding in the context of design
Other Requirements:
- Creative editing of existing Prezi and Powerpoint materials
- Ability to know when to just churn it out and when there is license to get creative
Technical Skills:
- Sound understanding of the SaaS environment and applicable technology, specifically the Google Apps Suite of SaaS Business Support tools
- Photography
- Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design)
- Powerpoint, Word
- Prezi
- Omnigraffle
- The ability to share these the outputs of these applications electronically to technical specifications provided by third party companies who will produce assets with these files
Key Competencies:
- Creatively Efficient - Able to choose the correct medium and technique to convey the information in the brief clearly, concisely and accurately
- Detailed Oriented Skills to ensure that all presentations, proposals, documents and sites produced are of a high standard and conform with company presentation style and graphic standards
- Tech Literacy Sound understanding of recent technology
- Team Work - Able to work cooperatively with internal customers who will be both demanding in results but often vague in requirements
- Results Focused - Able to demonstrate commitment towards the completion of set objectives or outcome with accuracy and attention to detail
