Well Construction Engineer

Job description / Role

JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Supervises the activities of assigned personnel and the mud/cement laboratory. Performs supervisory functions and exercises financial authorities at the level established for the position.

• Challenges current practices and develops innovative solutions to alleviate operational problems

• Introduces new techniques/ technologies to improve efficiency & quality in well construction.

• Troubleshoots related operations and advises on remedial techniques.

• Defines technical requirements and contractual strategies for the relevant contracts. Evaluates bids and recommends award strategy.

• Supervises the performance of relevant contractor to ensure efficient & cost effective operations.

• Monitors closely the cost of the cement & drilling fluid and recommends necessary action to optimize cost. Prepares relevant budgets

• Reviews laboratory testing procedures and recommends new equipment/ procedures. Set up studies objectives to be performed by lab personnel. Assess studies results.

• Presents and publish the results of the implementation of new practices and technologies.Participates in task forces/ work groups with other Departments (PDD, HSED, OSD, etc…)

• Performs other related duties such as preparation of various studies related to cement, mud and completion fluids.

• Keeps abreast of technological development in the field of mud and cement engineering in the oil/ production industry and recommends their adoption by ADCO.

• Participates in the training and development of assigned UAE national employees. Administer on the job training/familiarization programs and reports on progress.

• Knows the Company health, safety and environmental policy, procedures, regulations and objectives as they relate to his area of responsibility, and ensures that they are effectively implemented in his domain.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIRED

1. B.Sc. in Petroleum, Chemical or related engineering or scientific discipline.

2. 12 years of mud and cement engineering in drilling and workover operations.

Reports to the Drilling Team Leader (Cement). Works according to established technical procedures in preparing cement programs and performs other work in accordance with specialized technical standards. Keeps Supervisor advised of work progress. Completed work is subject to review by Supervisor.
