Job description / Role
BP is currently drilling and testing appraisal wells with 1 rig in Block 61 concession in Oman. The project is tight gas development. Upon government's approvals; the plan is to acquire 2 more rigs in 2013 and subsequently 1 additional rig per quarter up to 8-10 operating rigs. In anticipation of this ramp up, we are building the organization to deliver the plan to drill around 300 wells for Phase I development. The wells are 4500-6000 m long with 1000-1500 m horizontal section. Although the work is primarily at the rig site, some time may be required in the office undertaking operations planning and 'after action reviews', support new rig delivery process. This role will report to the Wells Team Leader.
*Manage onsite operations with a high level of leadership in HSE.
*Implementation of the Drilling and Completion programmes.
*Compliance with BP standards, policies and legislative requirements.
*Active management of drilling contractor and service providers in the field.
*Commitment to well planning and learning process through input into drilling procedures, forward programmes and active participation in the 'Lessons Learned process'.
*Management and control of operational costs.
*Incident reporting and investigation as appropriate.
Requirements
Degree in Engineering or related subject
*5-10 years of experience in onsite supervision of drilling operations.
*Experience of managing third party contractors.
*Demonstrable HSE leadership competencies
*Strong interpersonal, speaking out, influencing and communication skills, demonstrated by an ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams.
*Experience of leading and motivating a team.
*Coaching and mentoring less experienced WSl's and engineers
*Valid IWCF Well Control certificate or equivalent
