The role Well Cost Reconciliation Analyst is based in Muscat and reports into the Accounting Services Manager. The post holder will be responsible for managing and monitoring all the GL Codes which are part of the region Chart of accounts for drilling and wells. As a key support role to the business the post holder will be expected to develop relationship across all business and functional areas and at the same time will need to have a broad understanding of the business activity set they are in support of. They will need to be able to communicate effectively with business peers in PSCM materials management and logistics, D&C, and Project services as well as other members of the Accounting Services Team. Whilst familiarity with the BP Group Accounting and Internal Control policies is not required initially, it is expected that the post holder will become increasingly familiar with these, and will be provided with the appropriate on the job.

As a member of the Accounting Services team the Well Cost Reconciliation Analyst will be involved in the delivery of key Financial Accounting and Control Processes and activities, including:
* Manage all GL codes that are part of the Drilling Chart of accounts and understand and validate postings.
* Manage all Drilling project codes and understand and validate postings.
* Check and validate P&O charges to Drilling Cost Centres.
* Complete end of well reconciliations between General Ledger and Drilling records (cost tracker).
* Highlight errors and omissions on demand to relevant peers and ensure that corrections are processed up to the following 7 days. The role also requires significant interaction with other areas of Finance, and with various business facing teams. The ability to communicate very well in English to support effective multi-disciplinary team working is therefore a key skill as is the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

* Degree in accounting, business or economics.

* Sound knowledge of MS Excel.

* Working knowledge of SAP and Sun.

* Flexibility to adapt and utilize different information systems (e.g. Business Object, Maximo, etc.).

* The post holder should have a minimum of 3 year's accounting experience and demonstrate good experience in Inventory related activities.
