Select Auto is a part of Al-Futtaim Automotive Group established to mirror Al-Futtaim capabilities in order to cater emerging markets outside the UAE. The company caters to the regional requirements of Nato Forces and their Prime Contractors for supply of heavy equipment, vehicles and their maintenance services. It offers a wide range of vehicles, handling equipment, construction plants and specialist vehicles, including armored SUVs.

The Workshop Supervisor ensures that maintenance and repair works on all types of equipment, both on site and in the site workshop, are completed in accordance with prescribed standards and specifications in order to ensure customer satisfaction and achievement of departmental objectives.

Key Accountabilities:

Workshop Efficiency and Profitability:

* Plans, directs and supervises all aspects of the workshop operations from service & repair job, major component overhauls to advanced diagnostics of all vehicles, ensuring full utilization of the facility and resources.
* Allocates jobs as appropriate to the nature of the repair and technician specialization, ensuring quality of repair and service.
* Ensures repairs/service are conducted in accordance with product and manufacturers specifications and within the standard prescribed time, enabling customer satisfaction.
* Manages working patterns, creating technician hours summaries reports, incentive & reimbursement reports, in support of the final Maintenance Managers report.
* Liaison with Parts Department to ensure timely availability of parts for repair works to take place within the prescribed time frame and appropriately tags parts received for warranty for the departments concerned
* Reports discrepancies on parts and machinery to the Workshop Manager to enable corrective action if required
* Maintains the workshop to ensure safety standards are adhered to and service tools and equipment are stored in an appropriate and safe manner.
* Ensures general floor management & good housekeeping.

Staff:

* Coaching, motivating, developing and training including technical guidance to technicians, fostering a productive and efficient team.
* Accurate & fair complication of annual & mid-term associate appraisals for all direct reports, in accordance with company policy.
* To support the Maintenance Manager in the accurate recording, future planning & completion of competence development, while ensuring accurate records relating to all competence development activities are maintained for all direct reports.

Customer Satisfaction:

* Monitors and measures quality of service throughout all stages of the job, acting where necessary to ensure quality of service and on time delivery.
* Drives repeat business and reputation in the market, through consistent high quality service.
* Develops rapport and healthy relationships with internal & external Companies, marketing the site workshop business effectively.
* Supports the Maintenance Manager in maintaining the site customer complaints register, also supporting customer complaint follow up ensuring a satisfactory solution to workshop related complaints 

Company Premises, Assets and Equipment:

* Manages efficiencies of people, assets and systems to maximise workshop profits.
* Leads the upkeep and proper maintenance of company premises, assets and equipment.
* Keeps abreast with the latest technical developments in the field of the site workshop, using this knowledge to recommend changes & improvements.

Products handled:
Core Brands, such as Volvo Truck & Bus, Volvo Construction Equipment, Ingersoll Rand, Yanmar Engines, Linde Forklifts and Merlo Handlers, Perkins Engines
Non-core brands, such as Catapillar, Terex, Bobcat, New Holland etc
Markets covered:
Operational Locations such as Afghanistan, Iraq, North &  East Africa

Requirements

To be considered for this role you will need to possess:

Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge:

* Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or extensive and specialised training in heavy machinery;

* City & Guilds (Part 1) in General Motor vehicle Studies
* City & Guilds (Part 1, 2 & 3) in Motor Vehicle Studies (Heavy)
* BTEC in Heavy Motor vehicles Studies
* Field of Specialisation (if any) - Automobile Engineering

Minimum Experience:

* Minimum 10 years technical expertise in heavy commercial transport, and familiar with workshop operating standards
* Minimum 4 years in a supervisory position.

Job-Specific Skills:

* Detailed understanding of mechanical components of mechanical systems (engines, transmissions, brakes, steering & cab & controls etc.)
* Able to read & understand supplier service manuals, line diagrams, computer aided diagnostics capability (including translation of generated reports)
* Understanding the ethos of skilled workshop technicians, diverse cultural blends and awareness of the unique challenges faced in the type of locations in which Select Auto operates
* Advisory for technicians working at remote job sites
* Understanding of ISO standards, including 9001:2008, 14001 and 18001
* Good knowledge of MS Office applications
