AECOM's Design + Planning practice offers a holistic approach to guide responsible and productive use of the land. Our practice includes design, master planning, environmental and ecological planning, strategic planning and economic development. We integrate these areas of expertise on projects of all scales and contexts. Some of our clients are private developers creating communities or world-class destinations. Others are national and local governments seeking to manage their natural and cultural resources. As we are experiencing growth across the region, we are proactively seeking applications for the role of Graduate Urban Designer.

Job Summary:

This position holder works within the studio team to provide technical expertise on allocated urban design projects. The role includes the application of Architecture and urban design skills along with project coordination responsibilities from time to time.

The Urban Designer works closely with senior staff including the Project Manager (PM) to produce refine and at times, present reports and product in accordance with the project scope. The urban designer must be flexible and able to work independently and within the team, usually within tight timeframes within the parameters of each project.

Responsibilities:

The Urban Designer shall be responsible for the following:
- To work with the allocated project manager to produce project reports, drawings, and other documents to meet client deadlines as outlined by the PM.
- To assist in the preparation of conceptual and schematic design plans and reports as required by the PM.
- Apply computer skills in a range of packages including CADD, Adobe Creative Suite and other software as required.
- To assist in the preparation of documentation & presentation packages for projects.
- To participate in design workshops with clients and staff as appropriate to the projects.
- To liaise with clients in accordance with the project requirements and as agreed by the PM.
- To work harmoniously in the team environment, practicing open communication, a participative approach to work and commitment to projects.

As a key member of the practice, the urban designer shall actively and positively contribute to the overall running of the studio on a daily basis. This includes participation in the team meetings and any other initiatives that are agreed by the practice.

Requirements

Requirements:
- Qualified professional
- Knowledge of contemporary design trends, techniques, materials and 'state-of-the-art' practice
- Strong communication skills and demonstrates initiative in client service
- Software skills in relevant packages including Microsoft Office, CADD, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Consistent delivery of a high quality of product in specialty area
- Proven ability in self direction on day-to-day tasks
- Exhibits commitment to teambuilding and fostering positive office morale by active participation in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Supports the core values of the firm through actions and accomplishments
- Experience working in the Middle East would be an advantage
