eCommerce Category Manager

Job description / Role

An opportunity with a successful telecom business in the Middle East

Reporting to the Head of eCommerce this role will directly interact with Wholesalers/suppliers in the region to ensure wide range availability of products on the website. You will ideally have good relationships within your network i.e wholesalers/independent retailers in the UAE and KSA Markets.

Other responsibilities in this capacity would include:
- Drive tactical and strategic direction of online sales for mobiles and tablets.
- Be responsible for sales including topline revenue, margins and gross profits.
- Plan inventory requirements with vendors and partners and run a promotion calendar for their categories along with marketing.
- Track competition prices and promotions and be proactive in bringing the best offers and bundles to the market.
- Hire, train and manage a team of sales and service representatives in designated area or city. Lead the team to acquire retailers with valuable selection and establish long-term partnerships. Interface with internal teams to identify seller integration needs.
- Identify valuable sellers and selection of products for ecommerce site.
- Meet revenue and margin targets monthly/ quarterly.
- Maintain availability of stock inventory with sellers and warehouse.
- Collecting right product details and ensuring that they are on-boarded to the site.
- Ensure wide range of product selection for categories at best prices in the market.
- Define processes for working with sellers and coordinating with finance, logistics and operations

Requirements

- 7-10 years of experience in ecommerce sales, preferably mobiles and tablets category.
- Bachelor's degree in business/finance/engineering.
- Deep understanding of retail landscape along with the right connections and contacts to source products at best prices for the site.
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of all key aspects of an ecommerce ecosystem.
- Proven analytical skills and demonstrated ability to manage the business by the numbers Metrics driven approach will be key to success in this role.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to express thoughts logically and succinctly.
- Experience in ecommerce category managements and sales will be a big plus.
- Deep understanding of the retail and wholesale landscape in UAE with prior interactions with sellers and distributors is desirable.
