The Role


The Role


TEAM PURPOSE
The BI team provides information about business activity to managers of all levels. As such, the department plays a critical role in the decision-making process.

The BI team is responsible for delivering daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc management reports related to
- commercial activity (sales and service activity, subscriber activity)
- operational performance (jobcards, service levels)
- specific major initiatives
- annual budget process

SCOPE

While assuming part of the reporting teams usual ongoing tasks, the BI analyst will also help reach the team goal by providing his expertise in all phases of the BI development cycle. As such, he will work closely with colleagues across the organization to help analyze their needs, implement their requests within the framework, and then train users and promote the new functionality throughout the company, not only at the head office but also in the various country offices across the Gulf region.

Responsibilities


Provide reports to support fact-based management and company critical decisions.

Supporting the BI development lifecycle :
- reporting requirements analysis
- conceptual solution design
- technical implementation
- testing (validation)
- integration
- maintenance and support

Initiating new BI initiatives
Participation as a BI team member in specific company-wide projects
Training our internal clients in the effective use of BI.
Promoting the use of BI within the organization.

Analyze data on basic and aggregate levels, collaborating with departmental and country teams where appropriate, to identify trends or areas of particular interest.

Identify areas of improvement within the BI department.

Requirements


Requirements


omputer degree with strong business affinity or business management degree with strong IT skills.
- Understanding of business metrics, basic financial and operational concepts.
- Feel at ease both in a technical IT setting as in a commercial/sales environment.

Analytical mindset, ability to keep one eye on the details while maintaining another focused on the big-picture.

Team player capable of interacting with colleagues from all fields, be it commercial, IT, operational, or finance.

Advanced IT skills :
- Microsoft Server 2003
- good understanding of database concepts
- RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server 2005), SQL experience is a must
- ETL data extraction and manipulation tools (DTS, SSIS)
- Microsoft Office, advanced knowledge of Excel and Access, exposure to Powerpoint and VBA
- Reporting and BI tools (Crystal Reports, SSRS, SSAS)

Good communication skills
- excellent English
- ability to discuss complex technical issues with non-technical people
- limited exposure to training, promoting the value of BI
- writing and documenting
- providing support upon user request

Experience of operating in multi country, multi-cultural matrix environment is desirable.

Strong track record of achievement and continued ambition/education.

Exposure to the PayTV market, or another subscription based business, is a plus.
