The RoleThe RoleGeneral Job Description (Role Objectives) Head of Commercial Department, responsible for all pre & post contract Commercial / QS aspects for projects undertaken by the company. (Company annual turnover US$ 55 million) List of Responsibilities (Job Description) •Manage the commercial department pre and post contract requirements. •Review tender contractual terms and conditions and comment on project risk. •Manage tender bonds; project performance guarantees and bank guarantees. •Arrange internal Kick-Off Meetings and attend Project Kick-off meetings with clients. •Process invoices for all projects. •Issue internal monthly reports for management review which details income statement with under and over claim analysis. Contribute to financial statement. •Issue sub-contract orders as required by projects. Manage approved sub-contractors and suppliers list. •Ensure that all materials purchased / sub contracts let are within budget estimated. •Price, negotiate and maximise variations for all projects and report. •Contribute to Debtors meetings and pursue the collection of monies invoiced for all projects. •Certify Sub Contractor payments and forecast monthly costs for reporting. •Ensure Commercial Dept. is in compliance with all relevant Quality Procedures and IMS. •Assist with tender estimation and preparation when required. •Contractual correspondence with clients and sub-contractors. •Manage team of estimators and quantity surveyors. •Forecast and budget for Department operations and staff training. Reporting to: Qatar Country Manager Subordinates: QS Team Other Interactions: Internal Heads of Departments and Clients Job Duration: Permanent Employment Employment Status: (Single or Married) Desired Start Date: 01 June 2008 Probation Period: 6 months (Qatar Labour Law) Working Hours: Sat - Thurs; 7:30am-5pm (alternative Sat off); Friday Week-end Travel Requirement: Site visits within Qatar Monthly Salary: QR Bonus: Paid in line with annual company profits (1-3 months basic salary) Other Benefits: Housing Rent Allowance (HRA) for apartment living; Utilities paid (water and electricity only); Company provided transport (Nissan Maxima); Health insurance: Qatar Gov. provision and PPP/AXA Health Cover; Annual Leave: 30 Calendar Days per year: Air Fare: Single Economy ticket to first port of entry for self and family (family if on married status) School Tuition: (if on married status, conditional) |
RequirementsRequirementsRequired Candidate Profile (Personal Attributes; Qualifications & Experience): Personal Attributes: •Good command of English Language, spoken and written. •Self starter and self motivated. •Use initiative. •Ensure that project deadlines are met. •Must be able to Multi Task. •Must be capable of working under pressure to meet tight submission schedules. •Must be willing to work overtime to meet the schedule completion dates. •Must be capable of scheduling and managing own work load. •Must be a team player. •Must be presentable and confident to meet Clients to discuss claims & variations. Qualifications and Experience: •Recognised Quantity Surveying Degree. •Experience in the Building Industry particular to interiors, housing, villas and steel structure construction. •Minimum 8 years in a similar role with 2 years ME experience. •Competent with MS Office Software. •Competent with MS Projects Software. •Competent with CCS Software. •Working knowledge and experienced in FIDIC Terms & Conditions of Contract. |
