Job description / Role
Reporting to the Regional Manager - Middle East, the Geometric Design Engineer will be responsible for investigating and reporting about geometric road design issues for clients. This is an investigative and reporting role, not a design role. It includes, but is not limited to:
• Investigating geometric design issues for clients. This includes the theory of geometric design, and developing new design guidelines
• Obtaining and analysing data, and making recommendations
• Managing sub-consultants in the UAE and elsewhere
• Preparing professional quality project outputs, including reports and presentations, in accordance with project plans
• Preparing figures and illustrations for inclusion in reports
• Travelling within the UAE, and elsewhere, for business
• Preparing tenders
• Other tasks as required by the Regional Manager.
The Geometric Design Engineer will need to be confident in contacting clients, international experts, consultants and others by telephone, e-mail and in meetings.
The Geometric Design Engineer will need to follow ARRB company policy and procedures at all times.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL
Civil engineering degree or better (eg Masters or Doctorate)
Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills
Basic to intermediate CAD skills
Minimum eight to ten years experience in a relevant organization/institution
Written and spoken proficiency in English
Professional manner
Excellent time management skills
Willingness to work in a small team, to be versatile and to do whatever is required for the company to succeed
Ability to multi-task and to respond to a variety of issues in a timely manner
Culturally sensitive, including dressing conservatively
Drivers license recognized in Dubai, UAE
DESIRABLE (BUT NOT ESSENTIAL)
Written and spoken proficiency in Arabic
Experience in translating engineering documents to and from Arabic.
