The RoleThe RoleBrown and Root North Africa Limited (BRNA) is a joint venture company between the Brown and Root Limited and The Great Man-made River Authority (GMRA). BRNA scope of work includes Engineering and Project Management services of many projects in Libya. Al Khadra N.E Agricultural reservoir Proejct (AKNE) AKNE reservour is located in Suluq about 45 km from the city of Benghazi in North of Libya in North of Africa. The reservoir have a usable storage of 24.0 million cubic meters and a water depth of 27.25 meters. The contract for asphaltic concrete lining is awarded to German company Strabag who are now on site. General Responsibilities: • The Senior Asphaltic Concrete Engineer will be based at Al Khadra N.E. Reservoir site in Libya. • The Senior Asphaltic Concrete Engineer will be fully responsible for monitoring asphaltic concrete lining placement, control and testing to ensure its compliance with the specification. Main Tasks and Specific Duties: • Verify the sources of suitable materials complying with the requirements of the specification - monitor testing. • Assess the preliminary gradings established by the Contractor for overall aggregate gradings and bitumen content. • Monitor trial mixes to establish design mixes for binder course, dense course and mastic seal coat. • Assess/approve laying trials. • Supervise production and laying. • Implement quality assurance and control procedures during asphalt production. • Training of Libyan National engineers. |
RequirementsRequirementsRequired Experience: Minimum 10 years experience including overseas work in the construction of asphaltic concrete for water impoundment reservoirs (mainly side slopes and bottom liners). Required Qualifications: Degree in Civil Engineering with appropriate field experience. Any work experience in Libya would be an advantage. |
