Employment: Full Time

Purpose:
To manage, develop new products and services that will generate income for Q-Tel from its international businesses covering Voice, Data, VOIP, and Roaming. The role holder plays a significant role within Q-Tel's global presence, currently International Roaming or Interconnect agreements.
B. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Overview

•Manage a portfolio of current products to ensure the benefits of those products generate maximum income for Q-Tel by constantly seeking out new markets and new ways of promoting those products internationally.
•Liaise with external consultants such as OVUM in order to identify potential opportunities or solutions to creating and implementing new revenue generating services.
•Identify new markets and new business opportunities for International Services by ensuring sound analytical data is available on which to build products and services for Q-Tel.
•Focus on international traffic patterns in order to identify potential revenue leakages and to make recommendations for corrective actions.
•Manage the financial business modelling process which will utilise traffic monitoring and business intelligence information in order to generate revenue models enabling Q-Tel to offer profitable products and services.
•Liaise with the Engineering department within International Services to ensure that any product or service which is being proposed is feasible from a technology perspective.
•Develop solutions for Enterprise, Corporate & VIP areas, as requested by them, in relation to data transmission, for International products or services ensuring Q-Tel makes the appropriate revenue as per targets.
•Undertake negotiations with 3rd parties internationally for data transmission/interconnection in order for Q-Tel's customers in Qatar to transmit data as requested by them. For example Asian Games Broadcast.
•Constantly review prices internationally to ensure that Q-Tel can exploit the market potential -- for example by seeking to create a competitive environment which ultimately will generate price reductions and therefore increased profit for Q-Tel.
•Wherever an OSS agreement (one stop shop) or framework is in place with an interconnect or roaming partner, seek to maximise the potential of that agreement by developing products or services beneficial to Q-Tel.
•Prepare variety of analysis, studies, plans, presentations, reports for the Senior Management to use in the decision making process for anything related to international business.
•Coach and guide the team in the utilisation of any reporting and analysis tools and related software, in order to ensure they are fully updated in their use and applications.
•Plays a major role in the team within the unit for negotiating interconnect or carrier services globally in order to ensure that any products or services created by the role holder will generate revenue for Q-Tel.
•Provide professional and technical guidance and assistance to staff.
•Manage, motivate, coach and appraise all staff within the department and identify training/development needs as appropriate in order to ensure the highest level of performance at all times within the section.
•Manage operating budget of the section.

•Creates business models illustrating clearly the potential profitability of any new product or service under consideration within the unit to ensure it meets the requirements as determined by the business in terms of profit margins and revenue generation.
•Strives to keep costs under control when developing new solutions.

•Resolves day to day issues within the department related to revenue modelling or understanding and developing competitive products and services.
•More complex problems will be resolved in conjunction with the Senior Manager Commercial International Services.

Planning & Organising

•Manages own time effectively at all times.
•Drives the development and implementation of new products and services in line with the business expectation.
•Ensures there is a pipeline of products and services under constant development to ensure a steady chain of new revenue opportunities.

E. KEY RELATIONSHIPS & DECISION MAKING
Reports To

Senior Manager Commercial International Services

Decision Making

• Day to day operational decision making is done independently.
•Decisions with significant cost implications would be taken in conjunction with the Senior Manager Commercial International Services.
• Undertakes analysis and financial modelling to ensure soundness of decisions as related to potential new products and services before presenting to senior management for consideration.
Business Impact

•International Services can have significant impact on the success internationally in terms of revenue generation for the organisation.
• Q-Tel's brand would be strengthened internationally depending on the successful implementation of products and services for international markets

Communicating, negotiating & influencing

• Shares information and collates information with and from the Account Managers to ensure that products and services developed will meet with their customer requirements.
• Ensures account managers have sufficient information in order to generate roaming and other international agreements.

• Account Managers within International.
• Senior Manager Commercial International Services.
• Senior Manager International Infrastructure.
• Marketing Department for Wireline and Wireless.

• Works as part of the commercial international services unit.
• Coaches and develops own team in the specialist area to ensure the highest level of performance at all times.
• Ensures own team training needs are identified and acted upon to support their personal and professional growth.

People Management (if applicable)

• Manages, motivates, and appraises own team to ensure they understand what is required of them and seek to deliver against those requirements in line with the organisations expectations.




Requirements

Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge

• 10 years in a similar role within an International department of a telecommunication company -- preferably in a deregulated market.
• Full understanding of international markets as related to telecommunications.
• Strong knowledge of telecom products and services related to International traffic and revenue generation.

Minimum Entry Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Economics or similar, however experience in the field outweighs any formal qualification for this particular role.

Technical skills
• Computer literate.
• Financial modelling.
• Understanding of Technologies related to Voice, Data, SMM, Video etc within a Telco environment.
• Sound understanding of carrier services industry.
