Purpose:

Qtel has developed an advanced multimedia wireless portal (accessible via web, WAP and an intelligent handset client) to showcase and sell its new range 3G services. This Wireless Portal, called "Mozaic Mobile" offers ring-tones, browse-able news and sports content, full track music downloads, audio and video streaming, news video clips, cinema schedules / trailers and mobile TV

The role holder will be responsible for maintaining and developing Qtel's Wireless Portal.

Context:

The position is in the Qtel Consumer Multimedia team. The Consumer Multimedia team is the team within Qtel's Wireless Marketing department responsible for defining, developing and implementing Qtel's wireless-data roadmap (Premium SMS, Peer to Peer and Premium MMS, Web / WAP / Java portal, GPRS, 3G and (Mobile TV) DVB-H services).

Requirements

Overview:

The Mobile Portal Officer (Back End) will be required to:

• Technically support the Wireless Marketing team's WAP and Web mobile portal
• Operate and manage Qtel's 3rd party out-sourced content and editorial management system platforms.
• Be specifically responsible for uploading and managing all content feeds into the Mozaic Mobile Portal (liaison with content providers, testing and rendering / reformatting of content)
• Manage and integrate all 3rd party content provider links into Mobile Portal customer interfaces
• Identify relevant identification codes / prices and revenue share split metrics for every single piece of content on either portal and load / manage these codes in the relevant parts of Qtel's Portal vendor content management platforms

In addition to this the Mobile Portal Officer (Back End) will also be expected to:

• Design / Audit web / WAP page text and visual content, navigational links and page layout
• Offer technical support for problems related to the Mobile Portal sites (issue identification and troubleshooting)
• Maintain the integrity of all portal interfaces to ensure Portal stability and resilience (Portal security and access control)
• Test and evaluate Mobile Portal links and usability across multiple handset types (both GPRS and 3G)

Costs & Profitability:

The role-holder is responsible for contributing to the management and growth of Wireless Portal service revenues through quality control improvements and the technical execution of promotional initiatives. They are also responsible for ensuring that existing and new services deliver a simple, reliable and rich customer service experience.

Customers:

The role holder will have frequent contact with the Network Engineering department who will have primary responsible for the operation and maintenance of the constituent portal platform elements. However the role holder's primary customer will be the Head of Consumer Multimedia who shall rely on the role holder to preserve the operational stability and service experience of existing services, upload and publish new content items and design / execute new Portal marketing initiatives and promotions

Business orientation:

The position requires that the role holder stay in touch with Qtel's broader development objectives (marketing efforts, products and services roadmap) and react to these in the best interest of Qtel.

Planning & Organising:

The role holder will also be responsible for organising, planning and executing content refreshment across all of Qtel's Mobile Portal customer interfaces

The role holder will also be responsible for preparing identifying and reporting site problems and for remedying them in a timely and customer friendly manner (i.e. with a minimum of live service interruption).

The role-holder needs strong organizational skills and excellent sense of visual and structural design.

Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Creativity and problem solving skills

Communicating, negotiating & influencing:

The role-holder is responsible for the following types of communication:

• Statistical site usage reports to management
• Project planning reporting to support departments (outlining areas of departmental responsibility and target delivery dates)
