Employment: Full Time

A. ROLE & CONTEXT

Purpose:
The role holder has to participate in development and expansion of Core network in line with Qtel's Strategic guide lines , Standard Recommendations.

Context:
Share and advocate ideas; take initiative and lead, manage, Study, analysis and identification of Core Network Infrastructure requirement for Technical Design and Development, to include expansion, upgradation, modernisation and optimization. This includes IP/MPLS, ISP , SDH & DWDM Networks.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Overview
Evaluate and select new technologyies, estimate traffic demand for future network , design and dimension long-term network architecture along with network/service convergence
Core Capability
Creative mind with strong analytics, strong planning and budget skills, business sense to make cost vs technology trade-off

Responsibility
1. Formulation of procedures and work instructions related to Expansion of Core Networks
2. Dimensioning of Core Network based on traffic demands, quality of Service, protection, SLA and other factors .
3. Translation of functional requirements to Technical specifications for Core Network in co-ordination with field units.
4 Maintain key relationship with wireline product management, wireline core infrastructure, wireline corporate and residential.
5. Function as Technical and Financial co-ordinater to ensure smooth and efficient implementation of various plans and projects related to Wireline Network.
6. Will be need to be able to identify issues, and develop contingency plans when necessary; provide timely responses to inquiries and requests for information; and know when to escalate unresolved issues to optimize project objectives.
7. Must Consistently meet deadlines and strong follow-through skills a must.

8. Understand and anticipate project impacts across all functional areas
9. Identify, Design and Dimension the specific requirements for expansion, upgradation, modernisation and optimisation of existing ISP, IXP, IP/MPLS & ADSL2+ infrastructure in order to introduce new services with minimum cost of ownership and financial risks.
10. Estimate traffic demands for future services ( Triple Play etc) in Core Network in co-ordination with Product development, Corporate and Residential Wireline departments.
11. Translation of functional requirements to Technical specifications for ISP, IXP, IP/MPLS & SDH/DWDM Network for expansion in co-ordination with other departments and business units. Develop detailed specifications for IP Core switching, Server Clusters, Routers, firewall, Catalyst, Gateways Gate Keepers and LAN switches.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge

•At least 8 yrs. Planning and Budgeting of Telecom Network
•Minimum 5 years experience in development and expansion of core network with larger Telecom Service Providers .
•Experience in managing small to medium size technical teams
•Sound knowledge of LAN/WAN Technologies, system architecture and platforms.

Minimum Entry Qualifications

Engineer Degree in Telecommunication, or related field .
