Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Purpose:
The role holder has to identify the technology and develop a short/long term plan for Access Network ( Copper and FTTx) in line with Qtel's Strategic guide lines and Standard Recommendations of IEEE, ITU and IETF

Context:
Role holder has to work closely with different functions in Qtel to ensure effective, efficient and timely services to internal and external customers. The network shall be well dimensioned, scalable, cost-effective and future proof.

Evaluate and select Access technologies, estimate traffic demand for future network , design and dimension long-term network architecture along with network/service convergence

Network

Responsibility
1. Providing guidance for preparation of new technical specifications for telecom materials, systems and services such as video transmission systems, broadband optical access networks, broadband microwave/minilink systems, optical fibre cables and multimedia/ triple services etc. Technical review and recommendations for approval and implementation of such specifications.
2. Conceiving new ideas for development, upgradation and modernisation of access networks so as to support introduction of new services to increase business volumes, generate higher revenues and profitability with minimum financial risk..
3. Strategic planning including technical consultancy/assistance/advice to other departments of wireline networks in order to meet the requirement for rapid network expansion and modernisation, with a view to increase the business volumes and profitability, besides minimising customer complaints and increasing the customer/client satisfaction.
4. Technical study and feasibility analysis for introduction of new technologies such as WiMax, Broadband Wireless, ADSL2 Plus, Optical Access Networks -Fibre in the Loop (FITL), Fibre to the Curb/Building/Home (FTTC/FTTB/FTTH), New Generation Network for Voice and Non-Voice Network so as to evolve multi-service, economical and future-proof networks and transmission systems.
5. Formulation of procedures and work instructions related to Wireline Networks Architecture.
6. Design and Dimension of Wireline Network based on traffic demands, quality of Service, protection, SLA and other factors .
7. Translation of functional requirements to Technical specifications for Wireline Network in co-ordination with field units.
8. Maintain key relationship with wireline product management, wireline/wirelerss access network and wireline corporate and residential.
9. Assisting to management as Technical and Financial co-ordinater to ensure smooth and efficient implementation of various plans and projects related to Access Network.
10. Perform any other related duties as required and advised by the management.
11. Assisting for Capital and Operational Expenditure for Access Network
12. Responsible for RFP, Specification and Evaluation of Various Tenders.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge

•At least 8 yrs. Planning and Budgeting of Telecom Network
•Minimum 5 years experience in evaluating and implementing access technology with larger Telecom Service Providers .
•Experience in managing small to medium size technical teams
•Sound knowledge of LAN/WAN Technologies, system architecture and platforms.
Minimum Entry Qualifications

Engineer Degree in Telecommunication, or related field . Master degree will be preferred.
