Employment: Full Time

A. ROLE & CONTEXT

Purpose:
The role holder will be responsible for exploring and developing Broadband's Applications, Services portfolio and technical end to end implementations enabling the full spectrum of business and residential broadband services in Qatar.

Context:
Takes major part in planning and developing Qtel's Broadband applications and services to ensure successful and timely launch of the same. In addition has to be prompt in responding to Product Portfolio changes and updates as well market and competitive

B. ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Overview
•Defining the processes for working with the third party supplier of broadband range of products/services for Voice, Data and Video, including value-added services, premium content, interactive services and multi-service bundles along with the enhanced applications (e.g., voice over IP) and access technologies (e.g., WiMAX, FTTx)
•Controlling and managing (Multiple Projects) an "end to end" implementation of a broadband service and co-ordinate activities across functional areas within the organization.
•Liaising with IT and the product & marketing management of each broadband service to ensure that service provisioning, billing processes and reporting are fully achievable and consistent.

Costs & Profitability
•Support to Increase and leverage profitability of existing Broadband products / Services.
•Optimize costs of new Broadband product / Services development.
•Financial forecasting and customer profitability analysis to enhance management decisions with respect to market trends, including customer churn.

Customers
Internally: The role holder has significant interface with Manager, Manger Planning, Technology Evolution & Development / Wireline (LNA) and other members of the department, senior managers at Qtel (i.e. networks, IT, customer services...).
Externally: The role holder has contacts with Broadband technology providers, Broadband applications & Services providers, researchers, suppliers, and dealers.

Business orientation
•Analysis of customer behaviour to aid product and service decision making e.g. customer needs, pricing, new product development.
•Understanding of the business requirements for each related service and the areas for improvement, managing the latter through clearly defined Service Improvement Plans and Service Roadmaps.
•Responsible for ensuring that these requirements are reflected in IT& Network's current and future operational plans and that changes in service are agreed with the business stakeholders

Planning & Organizing
•Develop clear project plans and assist in develop comparative technical assessments, business cases, and market requirements for future Broadband development..
•Generate, Distribute and short listing of emerging Broadband technologies and prepare new products and services RFP's.
•Carryout the required cross functional activities between Network and concerned business units, enabling them and their teams to deliver against the Broadband lines strategy.
•Identify issues, and develop contingency plans when necessary; provide timely responses to inquiries and requests for information; and know when to escalate unresolved issues to optimize project objectives.

Problem Solving
•Deal with regular complaints and problems.
•Work together with involved parties in Qtel to develop customized solutions for problems of hybrid nature.

Communicating, negotiating & influencing
•Serve as the focal point for Broadband Services and Applications implementation internally and externally..
•Will be highly involved with other departments to ensure alignment on projects, monitor the progress of required tasks and provide direction for team members.

Requirements

C. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge
8 years of experience in telecom out of which at least 5 years in Broadband Access & Application Technologies.
Experience in Broadband Applications and Services end to end implementation
Knowledge of Broadband Services provisioning and operations.

Minimum Entry Qualifications
A bachelors Engineering degree Telecommunications or equivalent.
Portfolio of past Broadband implementations.

Average development cost per new Service / Product.
Lead times: Service / Product development.
Effective utilization of resources.

E. KEY RELATIONSHIPS & DECISION MAKING

Reports to
Manger Planning, Technology Evolution & Development -- Wireline (LNA)

Network

Internally: Network Evolution, Network Core & Access Operations. Direct contacts all Qtel internal players / entities that touch own Service/Product portfolio.
Externally: vendors, researchers, suppliers, and dealers.

Team working, coaching, guiding

Represent Manger Planning, Technology Evolution & Development in cross-functional product teams to ensure execution towards products objectives.
Efficiently communicate with, team members.

Decision making authority

Deal with the day-to-day management Broadband projects and teams.

Business impact of role
This role is vital for the implementation of an Qtel's Broadband Services that satisfies market requirements and business line objectives.
