Job description / Role
Prepares civil tender documents as requested by other departments in order to advice the costing and the material required for the network expansions, maintenance and / or repair works.
Coordinate with consultant or independently to issue IFC Drawing, as per the Design & scope of works.
Ensure the architectural Plan & Elevation are in line with company requirements.
Coordinate to consultant with variable suggestion and adopt the suitable Architect view.
Ensure that U/G Cable is laid with proper bedding & protection and ensure that the cable marker is place
with cable derails.
Coordinate with Electrical / mechanical department for Primary substation building construction. Ensure that the cable openings, packets and foundation for HV/ LV Panel board are in line with the MEDC requirements.
Obtain the civil drawing approval from consultant and ensure that the main electrical scope will be fulfilled.
Identify the Excavation / filling works from the detailed drawings and ensure that the over excavation/ filling are not happened.
During mass embankment filling, the layer thickness and compaction of layer are carried out as per the specification and standards.
During mass / Hill excavation, ensure that the popper safety standards are followed and excavated materials are disposed in the designated area.
Closely monitor the Site investigation works and ensure that the Site investigation reports are inline with
the Contract design requirements.
Confirming the Concept design from site Investigation report, the Foundation/ Structural works can be started as per the Contract Scope/ Drawings.
Identify the field changes and difficulties; ensure that these changes are not affecting the concept design.
Assist to Site engineer for maintain the good lab test result/ standards on the Block work, concreting work, Plastering, Painting, Electrical Power works, utility services, etc,.
Coordinate with Electrical / Mechanical department and ensure that the cable routes are properly
concealed, exact location of Equipment as per scope. This may avoid the breaking of post concrete
structure.
Assist to subcontractor, to complete the finishing works as per the schedule.
Assist to land surveyor to fix the road centerline profile, FRL and compound layouts as per approved
construction drawings.
Construct the retaining wall as per the site requirement.
Execute the road works as per Scope & standard
specification
Identify the road crossing and assist for underground
Cable protection by duct banks, thrust borings, etc,
Properly fix the layout compound wall and ensure that, this will, not hinter to the third party plot area.
Requirements
Bachelor in Civil/Construction Engineering Minimum of 3 years related experience
Good communication skills
Strong civil engineering experience required
Applicants from outside of Muscat are welcome

About the Company
Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) is the only entity responsible for distribution of electricity in the Governorate of Muscat. It is 99.99% owned by the Electricity Holding Company (EHC) and the remaining 0.01% by Ministry of Finance. The company was formed on 1st of May 2005 as a result of the Royal Decree 78/2004 promulgating the law for the regulation and privatization of the electricity and related water sector activities in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Decree aims to achieve a comprehensive restructuring of the electricity sector by means of gradual privatization hence the operational responsibilities were split and passed on from Ministry of Housing, Electricity & Water (MHEW) down to MEDC and nine other companies that are now involved in various related activities. Having these responsibilities means that MEDC is entitled to own, maintain and develop the distribution networks in the Governorate of Muscat.
MEDC’s main function is to build and maintain the necessary infrastructure for the distribution of electricity in the governorate of Muscat. The area of responsibility includes private consumers, commercial consumers and government Sector. This variety in customers gives MEDC a competitive advantage in the field and keeps the door for improvements always open.
