Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Ensure the Qatargas chartered LNG fleet provides safe, reliable and efficient transportation of LNG to meet contractual obligations to Qatargas customers. Responsible for commercial availability and adherence to and compliance with the nautical and operational standard.

Monitors Marine related activities which could impact commercial availability of assigned LNG vessels. Reviews vessel performance to identify potential efficiency improvement opportunities and performs Charterers supervisory functions during any required attendance during maintenance operations and at dry dockings.

Reviews, on periodic basis and in consultation with Technical colleagues, the level of depot spares. Provides financial and technical justification to Head of Fleet for any marine related budgets or expenditure which they wish to propose on assigned vessels.

Contributor to the scope of work for high value tenders for which there is a fiscal exposure to Charterer on assigned vessels. Provides input into and recommendations for contractor pre-qualification and reviews technical bids on assigned vessels and proposes recommendations to Head of Fleet for contract award.

Contribute to the development of annual operating budgets for assigned LNG vessels which are under Cost Pass Through Agreements. Controls and reviews all Cost Pass Through related operating expenses for assigned LNG vessels and reports regularly on variances to Head of Fleet.

Responsible for the annual inspection and support the vetting program of vessels calling to Qatargas terminals at Ras Laffan Port.

Monitors and follows up that work reports, where appropriate, are prepared and submitted by Owner/Operator for all maintenance work carried out. Produces specialized nautical related reports as required, such as recommendations for improvements to ensure continuity of LNG exports and submits to Head of Fleet for review.

Contributes and participates as required in the pre-qualification process of Operators for long-term projects.

Provides nautical input as requested into any Shipping related aspects of Qatargas Emergency Response Plan development and upgrading.

Monitors nautical operational performance of the ships to verify compliance with all charter party agreements and ensure adherence with industry and regulatory standards - especially protection of the environment.

Requirements

Master Mariner certificate of competency (Class 1) or a bachelors degree in Shipping studies complemented by relevant seagoing experience at a senior level of responsibility, preferably as Master on LNG / LPG or oil Tankers.

8 years experience in Oil/Gas Marine Operations / Transportation.

Knowledgeable and experienced in vessel operations, Principles of Navigation and related systems with basic understanding of technical aspects of vessel repairs and technical operation. Knowledgeable in LNG Marine Loading Utilities, Facilities and berth requirements.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of SHE standards and requirements as they relate to the Oil/Gas/Shipping Industries and the Marine Environment.
