Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Works as part of a team of multidisciplinary engineers and/or with consultants/contractors to provide the mechanical engineering part of the design for projects. Ensures that designs are based on the American and International codes.
Meetings are held with the end user to develop the requirements prior to starting the design work.
Designs or review consutants design of pressure vessels, tanks, piping, air conditioning drawings, plumbing drawings and pumps in order to meet the requirement of the projects.
Prepares tender document for projects that are contracted.
Develops a project schedule using Primavera for inclusion in the tender document.
Checks various equipment and supplier options to include in the preparation of the final specification and incorporate into the tender document.
Reviews tender submissions to ensure that material specifications are included, drawings are accurate and that there is a quality control plan.
Most importantly there must be a Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualification Record that must be approved by the Mechanical Engineer.
Monitors the project at critical stages of the project to ensure that no errors have occurred during each critical stage.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
8 to 10 years of progressively more responsible experience in design and inspection of piping, tanks, pressure vessels and air-conditioning, preferably in the oil and gas field.
Working knowledge of American Society for Mechanical Engineers section 8 (Pressure Vessel Design), section 5 (Non Destructive Testing) and section 9 (WPS/PQR).
Good knowledge of American Petroleum Institute Code 650 (Design of Storage Tanks).
Good knowledge of National Fire Protection Association Codes 11, 13, 15, 16, 20 and 30.
Knowledge of safety and environmental impact of projects.
Team player and attention to details.
Excellent Communication skills in English (both verbal and written), Arabic would be an advantage.
Valid UAE driving license.
Basic knowledge of process and instrumentation.
